Joseph Knowlton age 50 Farmer CT< Thanks, Sheri, I will send this on to the Cornell researcher. After looking at Joseph on three censuses in Potter co, I think the ERRATA must be wrong . He is so consistent about his age, I feel it is right, as well as the CT birth As for the Schoonhovens, I have found them nowhere but NY earlier on. Would not be surprised if Joseph were not from some NY Knowltons out of CT whom I have already researched. Elizabeth W. Knowlton

    3. Dear Listers, I have received a request from someone researching Mary Knowlton, b ca 1842, PA, married Hiram Cornell. They lived in Steuben Co., NY, in 1870 and 1880. I have located them in 1860 in Potter Co., PA, living in Roulette with Aaron Knowlton's family, next door to Christopher Knowlton (an extremely rare Knowlton name then despite its ubiquity nowadays). I suspect they are Mary's brothers, given their ages. Can anyone give us citation for these Knowltons in 1850? If you go to http://www.geocities.com/mfs53211/mastertree1.html and search on Knowlton, you will find Jane Schoonhoven marrying Joseph Knowlton. Her father was Christopher Schoonhoven. They seem to be in the likely area for the Roulette Knowltons (and somewhere I saw Christopher or Aaron saying his father was b CT). This family is on p 504 of Stocking (correct Joseph's birth date to 1779 per ERRATA to make him old enough for War of 1812). Born in CT, mother a Sheldon. Married in Lancaster, PA. Any ideas? Elizabeth W. Knowlton

Surnames: KNOWLTON, GARDENER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/5Mn.2ACEB/316 Message Board Post: Jonathan Knowlton (age 56) and Annie Knowlton (age 50) resided with Moses & Florence Gardener at 6 Harrison Street, Fort Edward, Washington County, NY. According to the census, Annie was the mother-in-law of Moses so she must be the mother of Florence (although the birth dates for these women don't make sense since they are only 11 years apart). What is Annie's maiden name? Where are these individuals buried? Who are Annie's parents? Who are Jonathan's parents? Please pass along any other info

    3. I am looking for the names of Reuben Knowlton's children. In particular for John who was married to Mary Morse. I believe John was born in Wenham, Mass. I may be incorrect. I am trying to trace John Knowlton's family from Maine to the present. Hopefully he had a son named Ephraim. Thank you in advance. 3. Here I am again, Amy. This time I am sending my findings to the Knowlton listserve. Perhaps you would like to join. As I said, I doubt you are descended from Col. Thomas as your surname is Knowlton. I have located your great grandfather on the 1920 census in Tipton Co, IN. He was a clergyman, aged 65, born in NH, and was living with his second wife, Alta(?). In 1910 he was living with his first wife Carrie, also b NH, in Warren township, Milton Co. In 1900 he is living in Marion Co, Indianapolis, IN, with Carrie and their three surviving children: Loyan I, Lena M., Remon A., born in OH (2) and NJ (1). He and Carrie were born in 1855 in NH and have been married 24 yrs. Loyan is a housepainter. I imagine he moved around a bit as a clergyman. Am stuck right now at 1880 but will do some more searching and get back with you. Someone else on this list may help too. Thomas Knowlton carried at Bunker Hill/Breeds Hill and also the battle of Harlem Heights. My great, great Grandfathers name was James Albert Knowlton of indiana, this is as far back as we know our family tree. My father was told by his great uncle Loy Knowlton who was the eldest son of James A. Knowlton that we are direct desendents of Col.
