Another K/NIBB/S police connection is my great-grandfather Walter Edward GUDGEON, son-in-law of Hannah Haynes BEST nee NIBBS, who was Commissioner of Police in New Zealand from 1887 to 1889. Prior to this, he served as an officer in the New Zealand Armed Constabulary during the Maori Land Wars of the 1860s.
