Help Design The Car Of The Future (27 May 04) The University of Oxford is heading the SPRINTCar project, in which a group of academic institutions, research and industrial companies are joining together to help create "the shape, architecture and function of future road vehicles". There are three phases to the programme, the first of them being a six-month consultation period before the parties involved get down to Phase Two and Phase Three, proceeding via detailed design work to a full-scale prototype. The other partners are Oxford Brookes University and its counterparts at Sussex, Cranfield and Swansea, plus MIRA at Nuneaton, the Foresight Vehicle combine, Warwick Manufacturing Group, Menard, TWI, Knibb and Gormezano. In the first phase, they're looking for contributions from members of the public with ideas on future design. There's a questionnaire on www.sprintcar.org.uk.
