After 'money' comes this week's reckoning. Richard KNIBBS kindly sent through an Excel readable list of KNIBBS from the Akeley Parish Register, all of whom you will recall, Joyce and I have placed. Bob couldn't get permission to reproduce the notes of his Access tutorial but for eager data gatherers/sorters has drawn my attention to the following website. http://cru.cahe.wsu.edu/training/Access97/Unit2.html I too failed to get permission from one website which I visited. It has an explanation spread over several pages [which takes an age to reach the screen] as to how a pendulum clock works. Well, not strictly true re permission as they offered to sell the article to me for 1,000 dollars. Ouch! Don KNIBBS has told us of the photos he has placed on his website and I will mention these on the Warwick page of mine ie folks who couldn't attend our gathering. Another of those is Graham NIBBS whose photo now resides on my computer. How true Cathy when you praised Marsha for her explanation re US marriage licences. Superlative. Michael PEARMAN has sent me a collection of KNIBB extracts from his latest researches. Such items go into the database for the immediate benefit of any known relatives or subsequent benefit of newly found ones. A couple of new researchers have dropped by the website and I'm hoping to build up new trees and hopefully find some useful links. I've made a little more progress on Henry's descendants [he from England via Canada to the US] but am trying to sort out some anomalies. Meanwhile, with the help of Marvin THOMAS and Joyce FISCHER, I'm putting together some useful groupings of Canadian K/NIBB/S. I called in at Northants CRO on returning from Berkhamsted on Monday only to find it closed because of staff shortages - a warning for any would be travellers to now avoid Monday visits there [since September in fact]. Anyway, I thought I'd try the library at Oundle but that was closed as well. The trip was not altogether wasted as at the Oundle Museum, there was a 'Time' display which they very kindly opened up just for me. The person who had put the exhibition together was interested in my research and has already written with some useful K/NIBB/S info from his wife's local card index system. With Rose-Marie's help, I'm eager to sort out the Oundle KNIBB families - she tells me some are winging their way to me in tomorrow's post. I'm glad to have helped Bev and Pat which shows how just a snippet of info, in this case from a marriage certificate, can with luck open up new avenues of research. I didn't though win the lottery this week, so am relying on a lot of 10 per cents to buy more certificates! bfn Alan List Administrator and host at THE K/NIBB/S ONE NAME STUDY website Did you know?
