Can we help a list member, please? This might be a wild goose chase but I have wondered whether Cecil Gilbert KNIBBS was named with his mother's maiden name in mind. His father was George KNIBBS and there are 2 possible marriages for him. They boil down to George KNIBBS 02qtr1893 Buckingham District or 02qtr 1885 Newport Pagnell District. The 1893 looks the better bet. Could SKS do a lookup in the relevant GRO register to see if a GILBERT married in the same quarter ie 02qtr 1893 with the same reference as for George. If so we will obtain the marriage certificate which will show both fathers' names and occupations and importantly for our task the couple's ages. bfn Alan
Hi Alan The marriage of George is ref 3a1159 Buckingham district. I looked at the name Gilbert for the same quarter but did not find an entry.
