Answer: Francis KNIBBS. Francis KNIBBS married Mary Ann Soden in Steeple Barton, Oxfordshire on 7 May 1818. There is no doubt about that. However, due to the good detective work of Alan and Bob Knibbs, there is now overwhelming evidence that it was not the Francis KNIBBS as identified in my database! Unfortunately, there is still insufficient evidence to prove 100% which Francis Knibbs it really was. But, we're pretty sure. It was definitely NOT Francis, baptised 2 Aug 1767 at Deddington, Oxfordshire, the son of Richard Knibbs & Sarah Bignell. We know a lot about Mary Ann's husband Francis. We have a copy of his will and know when and where he died in 1856. Alan obtained a copy of his death certificate for me, and that shows that he was just 61 years of age when he died, making his year of birth 1794/5. We are now fairly confident that the Francis KNIBBS who married Mary Ann Soden, was baptised at Deddington on 8 Sep 1793, the son of Thomas KNIBBS and Hannah WELLS. This younger Francis was the 1st cousin, once removed, of the older Francis.
