Dear Alan, Was interested to see your message re Burns Night, as I have an almost identical connection with Robert Burns on each side of the family, though no blood relationship as far as I know. My mother's great-uncle Rev. William Bannerman, who came to NZ in the early days of the Otago settlement, married Jane Burns, daughter of Rev. Thomas Burns, a nephew of the poet; and my father's great-aunt Caroline Bullard married one Robert Burns who was descended from an uncle of his namesake, and, I am told, was very like him in character. However, I did not celebrate the 25th January by eating haggis! Regards, Roderick Drummond >Anyone eating haggis tonight besides us?
