Don Re death of first wife, as stated 01qtr 1886 which was in Woodstock District [on who else? principle] and re second marriage as shown 03qtr 1887 Buckingham District. It's only subsequently struck me that a son by the second marriage has the middle name of Taylor, so I wonder if Susannah was a relation and perhaps worth looking for her on 1881 census. I should mention that I do have another Richard born c1837 Oxfordshire but no hint that he came from Deddington. As you are aware I have ordered the Oxon Censuses index for 1841, 1861, 1871 and 1891 which should be with us shortly so will just keep an eye out for the pair of them to satisfy that we do have the correct Richard who married Mary Jane TAYLOR. bfn Alan > Firstly, many thanks to Joyce for finding this information and passing it > on. Thanks Alan. I too noticed that the son from the second marriage has the middle name of Taylor. It was 10 years after the death of his first wife Mary Jane TAYLOR so I wouldn't mind betting you're right that Susannah was related to Mary Jane. I've checked to see what details I have for Mary Jane, wondering if I could find a younger sister. If indeed she was from Deddington, the only entry I can see for a Mary Jane is the baptism of Mary Jane Kilby TAYLOR, baptised Nov 1835, baseborn d. of Mary. The marriage of Mary Jane to Richard KNIBBS shows her as the d.of Joseph. There's no sign of a Susannah baptism at Deddington either.
