Hi Alan, The book in question is a book about the village. Several people who have lived in the village have wrote their own stories about growing up in Maids Morton. However from the story I can tell that Violet's parents were Harold Gibbs - baker, and Philomene - surname not given. They met in France, yes she is french, when he was in the war. Violet mentions her husband by saying that he used to deliver to her dad. Cyril dad had a haulage buissness. Now looking in another book in buckingham library, I have found a W.Knibbs, haulage contractor living in Nelson St. in 1939. I think that this is Cyrils dad. Hope this helps somone. By the way. I found a book called the Posse Commitas ?. Listing all Knibbs in the area in 1798. Any use ?.
