Rupert Clark, a fashionably dressed young man was charged with burglariously entering the dwelling-house of John Hyett, coffee-house keeper of 52 Bartholomew Close and stealing therefrom a cash-box containing about £30 in gold and silver, a silver watch and guard, and other articles. There was also another charge of entering the premises of Mr. Gurney, an American storekeeper in Oxford Street, and stealing from thence a quantity of plate to the value of about £10....................Edward KNIBBS,a waiter at Mr Gurney's American Stores in Oxford Street said prisoner was formerly a waiter there and he (witness) succeeded him.
