As ancestry doesn't have the 1900 indexed yet, I haven't done much with it, but the citation was good enough to be able to find the entry quickly. They're both on page 5B. Unfortunately this enumertor seems to have been saving money on ink and some of the info is hard to read. KNIBBS, Albert, head of household, born Dec 1872, age 26, married 3 years, birthplace illegible but probably ends in -land, father & mother born in England, immigrated 1892, in US 8 years, naturalization papers filed, occ. Farmer, can read, write, and speak English, owns home with mortgage. KNIBBS, Olive, wife, born Sept 1877, age 22, married 3 years, mother of one child, born in Canada, parents born in Canada, immigrated 1881, in US 19 years, can read, write, and speak English. KNIBBS, Eveline, daughter, born Sept 1899, age 10/12, single, birthplace illegible, father's birthplace illeg (DARN!), mother born in Canada. (She was probably born in North Dakota as there's nothing listed for immigration.) KNIBBS, Alex, cousin, born June 1878, age 21, single, born in Canada, parents born in Canada, imm. in 1900, status alien, occ. farm laborer, can read, write, and speak English. A few lines down the page, in the household of a Norwegian farmer whose surname begins with "B", is the entry for KNIBBS, Herbert, born Sep 1867, age 32, single, born in England, parents born in England, immigrated 1900, status alien, occ. farm laborer, can read, write, and speak English. Unfortunately the 1840 census wasn't so informative. The entry reads: KNIBBS, Stephen, 2 white males under 5, 2 white males between 5 & 10, 1 white male between 50 & 60, 1 white female under 5, 2 white females between 5 & 10, 2 white females between 10 and 15, 1 white female between 30 and 40, 1 male slave, two female slaves, total 14 people; 3 persons in family employed in agriculture. The 1850 entry is for Grayville, in White Co, IL. In the household of a Danish merchant named Knoph Thompson is: KNIBBS, Sarah, age 20, born in Illinois. Hi Marsha Albert Knibbs is my grand uncle. Their daughter Eveline died at the age of 2 in Sep 1901. Alexander is also part of my tree as well as Herbert. I had no idea that Herbert had lived in the US, namely N.Dakota, however it is quite conceivable that he did because Albert and his sister Eliza were living here. Eliza eventually married a James Bugge and immigrated to Canada as well as did Albert, Alex and Herbert. All taking out homesteads next to my gfather William. Alberts birthplace is Akeley, Bucks. Alexanders parents were born in Akeley, Bucks as well as Herbert. I had not realized they would be on a US census and had never ordered in the film through my library.
