Charles K/Nibb/s married Mary Allen September 17, 1890 in Owen Sound, Ontario. I have also order birth/death records for Allen Brown Knibbs (I think this is their son). I also ordered the films for newspapers for the Brantford Expositor, so as soon as they come in I will take a look for you. bfn Joyce

    3. Hi John :) Don't quote me on this, but I THINK Paul at Pastfinders.net has researched Ireland. Go to www.pastfinders.net and email Paul and ask. You can tell him I sent you if you like, he might give you better treatment!! ;D Actually I should stop recommending him, cause he doesn't have much time for MY research he's getting so busy ... sigh!! ;D Take care, Rob. 3. Dear All, I forgot in my last message to also mention the Australian National Archives site. You can search for records and some have already been digitized and made available on the site. You can request for ones to digitized that aren't already. The address is http://www.naa.gov.au/the_collection/recordsearch.html There is a priority for digitizing WW1 records so if you type in Knibbs and 1914-1919 you will get some records relating to WW1. The records for William John Knibbs have been digitized. http://naa12.naa.gov.au/scripts/imagine.asp?B=4768453&I=1 You will also get references to a host of other records. I think that some WW1 records have been taken out of the database until digitized so I don't know that all Knibbs are mentioned at the moment when you search. This will be rectified once records have been digitized. 3. Hi everyone, Thought people might be interested in other Australian nominal rolls (Sudan 1885, Boxer Rebellion, Boer War, WW1, etc...) They are available at: http://www.awm.gov.au/database/nroll.asp. You can then search all their databases in one hit for anyone you find in the nominal rolls. To do this you go to research a person http://www.awm.gov.au/find/index.asp This can only be done by surname and war so it is not so good for names like Smith as you get pages of results to wade through, but ok for K/nibb/s If anyone has a more common name they want to search for I suggest searching each of the other databases individually as you can use first names in these searches as well. 3. Hi David :) I've recently downloaded my Grandfather's records from the NAA site. I think you'll find that if they're in the process of being digitised, it WILL tell you they have the records, but you won't be able to access them as yet. 3. Hi everyone :) I've just been back to the WW2 Nominal Roll (www.ww2roll.gov.au) to get copies of Knibbs' certificates. There's heaps of them, so I'll paste the list below and if anyone wants one, please let me know. You can't just copy them from the site, there's a little "trick" to getting them as a whole. If you right click to save the picture, you only get it in bits and pieces. If you're computer savvy and good with a program like Paint Shop Pro, I can tell you how to do it yourself! ;D I've searched for spelling variations and found Knibbs, Knibb, Nibbs which are all pasted below. Five of the Nibbs entries I've uploaded to Yahoo!Groups. Take care, Rob. 3. Hi Alan :) I'm very glad you managed to subscribe, I was getting lonely there for a while until you and David joined me!! ;D When you upload files, you may have noticed there's a box you can check that will send notification to the list. If you check it, a message goes to the list announcing that a file has been uploaded with a brief description. That way you can do it all in one go without having to send an email as well. It may pay for now at least to email this list as well, until everyone knows whether they want to subscribe to Groups or not. I'll be uploading some more files tonight. I've been surfing the WW2 Nominal Roll site in Australia and have quite a few Certificates for various Nibbs individuals. I'll try and do the Knibbs entries tomorrow, it's been a very busy day today and I just didn't get time. Some of the Nibbs' I knew and had in my tree, some I didn't, so I'll have to add the entries from the Victorian CDs I sent before I know for sure who's "mine" and who isn't. I had a very productive day today!! :D Take care, Rob. 3. Alan and Rob, Just realised that the first link below does not work. You can get to the Australian Society of Genealogists' Index to Tickets of Leave from the second link though http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/indexes/convicts/convictrecords.htm Also I have confirmed that the Parkfield sailed from Sheerness to Sydney, NSW http://members.iinet.net.au/~perthdps/convicts/shipNSW2.html and Richard must have travelled from there to Victoria. There are two people tracing other convicts on the same ship who may be worth contacting - Debbie Lane researching Emanuel Cook. Her email details (cookielane@iprimus.com.au) are on the page at http://www.brandis.com.au/surnames/co2cz.html - Cecily Matthews researching Samuel Watt Tyler. Her email details (djmccm@powerup.com.au)are on the page at http://members.iinet.net.au/~perthdps/convicts/stories.html#parkfiel Cheers, David -----Original Message----- From: Boon, David G Sent: Thursday, 13 May 2004 9:20 AM To: KNIBB-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [K/NIBB/S] Richard NIBBS Alan and Rob, Just thought you would like to know that Victoria was originally known as Port Phillip and was not named Victoria until 1851. Richard Nibbs is mentioned on the Australian Society of Genealogists' Index to Tickets of Leave at http://svc007.bne009i.server-web.com/catalogue/onlinebook/gatewayrecnsw. ehtml This gives the following information: Last name: Nibbs First name: Richard Ship: Parkfield Year: 1839 Native place: NR Trade or calling: NR District: Port Philip Ticket no.: 44/2983 State Records shelf ref: 4/4195 State Records reel no: 955 Further information is given on the site about how to obtain copies online of the record. I also think we may have copies in Tasmania which I will check out tonight for you. In searching for Richard I also found a reference to a Thomas Nibbs on another site. He received a certificate of freedom on 3 Aug 1831. He arrived in NSW on the Royal Charlotte in 1825. I found this on the State Records of New South Wales site at http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/indexes/convicts/convictrecords.htm You may like to also look at guides to their convict records at http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/publications/aibs/002/page01.htm Cheers, David -----Original Message----- From: Robyn Leeds [mailto:honey@honeyshome.com] Sent: Thursday, 13 May 2004 5:21 AM To: KNIBB-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [K/NIBB/S] Richard NIBBS Hi Alan :) I'm just very glad I could finally give to the list instead of just receiving ... boy it felt good!! :D I'll do some searching over the next few days, see if I can't come up with a site that has convict records for Victoria. Just in case it HAS failed to come through, you can join the K/nibb/s Group using this email addy ... knibb-subscribe@yahoogroups.com ... as far as I'm aware there's no need to put anything else on the email, just the email address. I've finally finished uploading Richard Nibbs' convict record images, a photo of William Nibbs and a photo of Walter, Lauren, Robert and I taken at the Auto Technik Museum here in Germany earlier this year. Unfortunately it's not very good, but we rarely have someone handy to take a photo of us all together!! There's photo sittings at Patch Barracks in June, I'm hoping to drag my lot over there the day they're taking photos to get a nice family shot. We're LONG overdue for one!!! If I manage to achieve it, I'll upload a nice one in the future! :D Take care, Rob. IBSSG Stuttgart, Germany Honey's Home of Genealogy www.honeyshome.com

    3. Hi Alan :) I wasn't sure of the age, but I had a feeling that may have been Richard's death. I couldn't recall what age he was when he arrived in Australia, had I had that handy I probably would've put two and two together. I've started a "knibb" group with YG, there should be an invitation coming through to the list shortly. I'm in the process of uploading the Richard NIBBS convict record images first, then I'll upload the photo of William NIBBS I already had. All members will have access to all the archives, files and photos, so perhaps if you want to add your personal photos to the group, or photos of ancestors, you can do it through the "Photo" section. For those of you who have never used Yahoo!Groups, if you need any help please let me know. I've found it's best if you create an identity with them, which is free. Again, if you need any help with anything, please let me know. I'm just working on a greeting for when people enter the group, including links to Alan's site! :D Take care, Rob. In addition to Richard and Sir GHK, on the Victoria list you sent there are a number of decendants of the swing rioter William NIBBS, descendants of Henry Theodore who featured here recently, proof that Henry Johnstone NIBBS was also known as Henry Stephen NIBBS and even a descendant of the armigerous Antiguan sugar planter, James Langford NIBBS. Quite a few listers will have benefited from your contribution.
