Don >Just another loose end I've managed to find. >Louisa KNIBBS who married William Weston at Swerford on 12 Aug >1867 and had two children at Swerford, moved with William and the >children from Swerford to Hook Norton. I did in fact have a note that Louisa died in 1934. When I checked from where I got this I noticed the initials SW which my records tell me stand for Shirley WILLIAMS. She is also a greatgrandaughter of Louisa's but blow me, can I find the correspondence between us. Perhaps Carys knows of her anyway and would be glad if you would check, so that her records can be similarly updated with what you've now found. If Shirley is unknown to Carys, I'll have to check my papers more thoroughly. bfn Alan

    1. [K/NIBB/S] The Deddington/Northant Link?
    2. Don Knibbs
    3. John et al, Bob Knibbs has just given me some information (see my previous email headed "no subject") on one of the Deddington Knibbs and, when checking back through my data, I've found a link between this Deddington Knibbs and Northants. It may well be nothing but perhaps worth a little digging. The Deddington/Northants link was mentioned at Warwick so I wonder if this could be anything to do with it? Joseph Knibbs, born in Deddington around about Feb 1849 married to Elizabeth Ann STILGOE in Dec 1868. I'm not sure where Elizabeth was born. In Jun 1871, just two and a half years after they married, Elizabeth Ann died. She was buried at Deddington but alongside the burial entry it says "Silverstone, Northants" which indicates to me that they were living there when she died. I don't know of any children from this marriage but believe that there may well have been one or maybe two. Both Joseph and Elizabeth were listed in the marriage register as "under age" so I suspect that Elizabeth became pregnant before they were married. She was still very young (22) when she died so I wonder if she died at the birth of a second child? Could there have been Joseph and two baby Knibbs males at Silverstone, Northants in 1871 when Elizabeth died? It would be a fantastic find if someone could confirm it. Does anyone know of a marriage between Joseph KNIBBS and a Harriet Unknown in Northants in the late 1870's? Don

    1. Re: [K/NIBB/S] (no subject)
    2. Don Knibbs
    3. Bob, I can't match up precisely to a Joseph Knibbs being born in 1851 (assuming that he gave the correct age on the census). However, there was a Joseph born in about Feb 1849 at Deddington - he was baptised at the age of 4 years 4 months in Jun 1853. So he would have been 31/32 at the 1881 census? This Joseph was the son of Thomas and Sarah GIBBARD. Joseph married Elizabeth Ann STILGOE in Dec 1868. I believe Elizabeth Anne died in 1871 at Silverstone, Northants shortly after they married, so it's quite possible that he remarried to a Harriet. There is no sign of any such marriage at Deddington. Any thoughts Alan - also I've just noticed the Northants link. This Joseph's wife died at Northants almost certainly childless or maybe from childbirth. Could this perhaps be the missing link between Deddington and Northants? 2. Don Knibbs
    3. Bob, Many thanks for yet more information - we must have these K/NIBB/S gatherings more often! It seems to be all one way at the moment but hopefully I will be able to return the favour one day and feed back to you. I think what you've been able to find for me already from the 1881 Census Listing certainly moves us a few steps further along the blind alley, and eventually, it must open up and lead somewhere, so I really do appreciate your help. Almost everything you've given related to this line is new to me, or at least, confirms information I'd gleaned from the IGI, so regrettably, I can't add much. With regard to Isabella Mary, the only information I had for her was from the IGI which gives her marriage as 4 Mar 1846 at the Holy Trinity, London. Isabella's father's will identifies that Isabella was married to Charles FRANCIS. Isabella had several other siblings: Emily Marianne Edwin George George Edwin George Edwin Clark We also know from Francis' will that he married twice (his second wife being Ann Unknown) resulting in two more siblings, each named in the will: Jane Anne Francis Edward (which is almost certainly the Francis Edward you've found marrying to Amelia unknown with the son Francis. Francis' will identifies that Edwin George, George Edwin Clark, Emily Marianne, Isabella Mary, Francis' wife Anne and her two children Edwin William and Elizabeth were all living at the time of his death in 1856. Emily Marianne married a William PHELPS in or around 1839 Edwin George married Elizabeth OMAN in May 1843 at Stepney (according to the IGI) and had two children Edwin William and Elizabeth (again, according to the IGI) George Edwin died in infancy (according to the IGI) George Edwin Clark married Elizabeth BEASLEY and had two daughters Ellen and Emily (from the IGI). He died at Balaklava in the Crimean war shortly after his second daughter was born. Thanks again for the help - do you have any connection with this line or do you know for sure that there is no connection? 1. [K/NIBB/S] Re NSW bmds
    2. Stuart/Beverley I will study the gedcom [should I look for specific additions] but first am thanking you for the NSW K/NIBB/S. You found some that I didn't so perhaps they are adding to the site all the while. I too had Beverley's and was most interested to read in her reply that her grandfather met Arthur's in the dole queue. I had imagined that Arthur had emigrated on his own but now we have another 'family' to look for - however Arthur and Pamela had no children so I was told. Regarding other KNIBB/KNIBBS marriages, we were taliking about one at the Warwick Gathering. A John KNIBB married a Maria KNIBB in the Warwick District. as it happens, 03 qtr 1848. I can't think of any others offhand, although from the website you'll be aware that there are recorded occasions KNIBB first cousins marrying. You'll have noticed that Eric A B was born to Florence E, presumably KELLY from the 1914 marriage. I had picked up an obituary of Cecil's death from the Sydney Herald. No doubt Beverley will report back to us idc on whether any connection with her family - or perhaps Arthur's notwithstanding the S. I'm also wondering if the Henry born to James & Ann could be hers as she has a James, railroader, unaccounted for in later life. The Wilfred W F H death is also a new one for me, so the hunt is on for Albert & Kate. bfn Alan

    1. [K/NIBB/S] Louisa KNIBBS b. Swerford Oct 1849
    2. Don Knibbs
    3. I've found a few details about Louisa KNIBBS who was one of my line, baptised at Swerford, Oxon on 14th October 1849, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (nee WEBB). For the females of the line, I try to find details of their children whenever I can but tend to stop there. I knew that Louisa married to William WESTON on 12 Aug 1867 at Swerford and that they had two children baptised in Swerford, but that was all. I have learned a lot more from a lady called Carys McCarthy, the gggranddaughter of William Weston and Louisa Knibbs. I already knew that Louisa KNIBBS, the daughter of Joseph KNIBBS and Elizabeth (Webb) KNIBBS, married William Weston at Swerford on 12 Aug 1867. They appear to have had two children born in Duns Tew and baptised at Swerford. Mary Elizabeth was baptised on 17 Jan 1869, and George on 28 July 1872. At that point, I could find no other information on William, Louisa or their children at Swerford. I learned from Carys McCarthy that they reappear at Hook Norton which is the next adjacent village. I have checked the PR transcript for Hook Norton and can see the following: Baptism: 1873 Dec 7 Wilfred James WESTON (which is Carys ggrandfather) Burials: 1872 Oct 18 George WESTON aged 4 mths - baptised in Swerford 1874 May 10 Mary Elizabeth WESTON aged 5 years - baptised in Swerford 1919 Feb 5 William WESTON aged 76 years 1934 Apr 21 Louisa WESTON aged 84 years. Carys believe there were three other children, John b. 1871 at Chaccombe, Northants, Harry b. 1875 at Hook Norton and Lilian b. 1887 at Hook Norton, but I can see no record of them. So, for pure K/NIBB/S researchers, we have the burial date for Louisa KNIBBS as 21 Apr 1934. Don

    3. A couple of people at Warwick (one of whom I believe was John Knibbs) suggested that I may hold the link between the Oxfordshire Knibbs and the Northamptonshire Knibbs - if I have, I'm not aware of it. I've looked at my data and from what I can see, I have no baptisms, marriages or burials that took place in Northamptonshire. At least, searching my database using 'Northamptonshire' didn't show anything. It maybe that I have something recorded by just village or town and no county, but I don't think so. I believe it may have been Alan who suggested the possible connection so wonder if Alan or anyone else can suggest what I look for? I certainly have loads of male Knibbs who were baptised in Oxfordshire, never to be seen again, so it's quite possible that's where they ended up. Are there any key names of the early Northampton Knibbs males I should look for? Don

    3. Thanks Bob Knibbs for following up a thread from Warwick concerning my disappearing Knibbs in London. Bob tells me that an Edwin George KNIBBS died at North Aylesford, which is just north of Maidstone in Kent, in 1884, aged 62 years. I believe this to be Edwin George Knibbs from Middle Barton in Oxfordshire. I know from Edwin's father's will that Edwin's father (Francis) moved to Islington near London, remarried and had two more children Edwin William and Elizabeth which I've found on the IGI. Bob has also found the death of an Edwin William at Camberwell in London in 1883, aged 39 years. This would be the right age for Edwin George's son Edwin William. I wonder if any Kent Knibbs descended from this line? Don
