    2. Don Knibbs
    3. Cathy, That's great news. I'll reply more fully off list, but John who appears under "saddler" is the same John as the one you referred to. He married twice. He was listed as a Harness Maker at his first marriage and a Saddler at the second. When I entered the data, I hadn't at that time recognised that both marriages were his, hence the confusion. John was baptised at Woodstock on 23 Oct 1796, the son of John KNIBBS & Rachel GRIMAT/GRIMET/GRIMMET. I am extremely interested in the marriage of John senior to Rachel as I have a feeling that this John is the son of Richard KNIBBS & Sarah Bignell of Deddington - no proof yet! If that is the case, then it appears that you and I have a connection which we've both believed for quite some time. Thanks for bringing your connection with the data to my attention! If this keeps up, I'll have no Unplaced Knibbs left. You may not remember, but Alan helped me get the marriage certificate of Ann Knibbs and George Brashier. The marriage certificate was from Lambeth and listed Ann's father as John Knibbs - Harness Maker. That was 15 Sep 1856. To add to your information...Ann died 04 Dec 1804 in Seneca Township, Crawford Co., WI. I have quite a lot of information about her and her children. Her brother John came to WI and was married in 1858. He was a circuit rider Methodist Minister. Lots of interesting information about him too -- and he had 3 daughters -- but I have found nothing of the daughters -- except that one of them lived in North Dakota and Ann's daughter (my g-g-grandmother) corresponded with her up to g-ma's death) Would you like the information I have? 1. [K/NIBB/S] Greetings from Alf Fantham
    2. Don Knibbs
    3. I recently wrote to Alf Fantham (who some of you may know) concerning some new information we found at Woodstock. Alf is researching his FANTHAM family. Back in 1830, Samuel GRIFFITHS, who's one of Alf's ancestors, married a Frances KNIBBS who was born in Yardley, Worcestershire. Alf had told me of Frances and that she was the daughter of Thomas KNIBBS and Harriet Unknown. This Thomas was the son of John KNIBBS and Elizabeth HOLLIER, so connected to my line. We discovered just last week in the Woodstock PR transcript that Harriet Unknown was in fact Harriet PRATLEY, and that this was the second marriage of Thomas KNIBBS. Anyway, to cut a long story short, Alf replied with: "Again to you, yours and everyone you talk to with the KNIBBS name, Happy Christmas and a successful New Year" So, I'm passing it on. Don

    3. Thanks for the greetings, Alan - celebrated the birthday last night, along with the marriage of my oldest daughter; she got married yesterday afternoon - a second marriage, of course, but important nonetheless. She still plans on retaining Knibb as part of her name as I have. Merry Christmas to you and to all - Jo :-) ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, December 15, 2001 12:43 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [K/NIBB/S] Ho ho. We have family visiting and I guess my time on this machine may be somewhat rationed from the end of the week, so peace should reign. Now, I'm going to enact an annual tradition and watch the film 'Wonderful Life' which I love for its sheer escapism. 1. [K/NIBB/S] Unplaced K/NIBB/S
    2. Don Knibbs
    3. I've just been busy adding more data to my Unplaced K/NIBB/S web pages. By "Unplaced K/NIBB/S" I mean K/NIBB/S individuals I've come across in my research, but with no apparent connection into my own particular line of Knibbs. The purpose of the Unplaced K/NIBB/S web page is to share this information with everyone in the hope that someone else can lay claim to them. All of the information has come from the various Parish Registers of the Parishes frequented by my ancestors, so I have good documentation to support it. The data I've added today comes from the Parish Registers for Oxford All Saints, and Woodstock, Oxfordshire. Previous data is from all the other Parish Register transcripts that I have. I've struggled to think of how best to present the data and have come up with several variations which I hope will satisfy the various angles that people may wish to view it.There are five different ways in which it can be viewed: 1. By Location - a list of events (births, baptisms, marriages, baptisms) indexed by the location in which they occurred. 2. By Date - a list of events (births, baptisms, marriages, baptisms) indexed by the year/date on which they occurred. 3. By Occupation - if you know the trade followed by you ancestors, it's sometimes useful to look for others in the same trade. 4. By Name - an alphabetical list indexed by Surname/Christian name of everyone in the Unplaced K/NIBB/S database 5. By Surname - often useful if you know the surname of a spouse. Each event listed in any of the above has a hyperlink back to a family file to show any connected siblings, parents, or children. To access the data, go to my index page at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~knibbs/ and click on "? NOT My Knibbs - Who are they?". This will take you to a new Index page offering the five options described above. If anyone can think of a way to make the data more useful, or a better way to present it, please let me know. Also, if anyone lays claim to anyone listed on the Unplaced K/NIBB/S pages, I'd also welcome a quick email. Thanks! Don

    1. [K/NIBB/S] Q: Who Married Mary Ann Soden?
    2. Don Knibbs
    3. Answer: Francis KNIBBS. Francis KNIBBS married Mary Ann Soden in Steeple Barton, Oxfordshire on 7 May 1818. There is no doubt about that. However, due to the good detective work of Alan and Bob Knibbs, there is now overwhelming evidence that it was not the Francis KNIBBS as identified in my database! Unfortunately, there is still insufficient evidence to prove 100% which Francis Knibbs it really was. But, we're pretty sure. It was definitely NOT Francis, baptised 2 Aug 1767 at Deddington, Oxfordshire, the son of Richard Knibbs & Sarah Bignell. We know a lot about Mary Ann's husband Francis. We have a copy of his will and know when and where he died in 1856. Alan obtained a copy of his death certificate for me, and that shows that he was just 61 years of age when he died, making his year of birth 1794/5. We are now fairly confident that the Francis KNIBBS who married Mary Ann Soden, was baptised at Deddington on 8 Sep 1793, the son of Thomas KNIBBS and Hannah WELLS. This younger Francis was the 1st cousin, once removed, of the older Francis. Whilst this line of Knibbs still remains intact, some of the relationships will have changed slightly For those who have a direct interest in this line of Knibbs, my web pages now contain this amendment starting at Mary Ann SODEN's page at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~knibbs/fam112.html Don

    2. [This from Don which didn't reach the list as posted from an unsubscribed email address] Ritchie, Can you remind me please of the names and dates for Charles and his two brothers - I'm afraid I'm not as organised as Alan so although I'm sure you've told me before, I'm not sure where I'd find it. If it's Cornelius senior that you refer to, we have a pretty clear picture of this little family unit. Cornelius was about 6 years old when his parents emigrated to New York. His oldest sibling was a James Knibbs, born in 1827, shortly after his parents married. I'm wondering if perhaps Ana's research in New York may have turned up any Charles or others that she can't place. Kim Knibbs that we've just found isn't on the list yet but she's researching Buffalo New York, so may have turned up some there. If you can give me the names and ages I'll speak with Kim off list.
