Does anyone on the list have any information on the following story? "On the evening of October 9th, 1992, residents across 7 U.S. states witnessed a brilliant fireball hurl across the evening sky, as bright as the full Moon, with a long tail behind it. Meanwhile in the town of Peekskill, New York, 18 year old Michelle Knapp was at home watching television when a loud "crashing" noise came from outside. The fireball had accumulated in the fall of a single stone meteorite which had shot straight through the back end of her car (1980 Chevy Malibu), bursting the oil tank and excavating a small 12cm impact crater in the ground below. Warm to the touch, the incident was originally reported by the Peekskill police as "criminal mischief by a very strong male", science would determine this 12.4kg meteorite as a H5 chondrite."
