    2. I have transcribed the Last Will & Testiment of Anson Cornwall Knapp of Milford, Otsego County, New York. Anson C. is the son of Salmon Knapp and Betsy Stewart of Danbury, Fairfield County, Conn. Anson C. was born on 5 Jun 1808 and died 14 Nov 1890 in Milford. LAST WILL & TESTAMENT ANSON CORNWALL KNAPP 4 Feb. 1885 In the name of God amen I Anson C. Knapp of the town of Milford, County of Otsega and State of New York being of sound mind and memory do hereby make my last will and testament in measure and form as follows. FIRST. I direct my executor and executrix herein after named to pay and discharge in full all the just and honest debts that may be owing by me at the time of my decease. SECOND. I give and divide, and bequeath to my Executor and Executrix hereinafter named all my property both real and personal (not herein otherwise disposed of by me) in trust for the following uses and purposes: I direct my executors to sell and convey all my real estate after my deceased and back taxes as in their judgment they shall think best for the interest of my estate and provided it can be done without a sacrifice thereof, and for a fair compensation, and I also direct them to convert my personal property into money and after the payment of all just debts and the expenses of the administration of my estate. I direct that they invest all such monies remaining in good securities and pay the income arising there from annually over to my wife Mary Ann Knapp for her maintenance and support for and during her natural life. This provision herein made for my wife Mary Ann Knapp is intended to be in lieu of house or thirds in my estate which she would otherwise be entitled to by law in my estate. THIRD. At the decease of my wife Mary Ann Knapp I give and bequeath from the funds as in the hands of my executors the following sums to the following named persons to wit. FOURTH. To my daughter, Betsy Knapp, the sum of two thousand dollars and also all the household furniture that shall be left remaining at the decease of my wife. FIFTH. To my daughter, Rowena Low, the sum of one thousand dollars. SIXTH. To my daughter, Hannah Brown, two hundred dollars. SEVENTH. To my son, Levi S. Knapp, one thousand dollars. EIGHTH. To my son, Albert S. Knapp, one thousand dollars. NINTH. I give and bequeath to my wife, Mary Ann, the use of all my household furniture during her natural life. TENTH. All the rest residue and remainder of my estate after the payment of the several legacies herein bequeathed, I give and bequeath to the several legatees herein named in proportion to the several specific legacies herein bequeathed to each. ELEVENTH. On the 19th day of January 1878 I made a contract with my son Solomon P. Knapp of North Branch, Lapeer County, State of Michigan, to convey to him one hundred and seventy six acres of land at North Branch aforesaid then occupied by him and now by his heirs he having since died and said contract being outstanding and the remaining unpaid being almost eleven hundred dollars. Now, I do hereby authorize and empower my executor and executrix hereafter named or the survivor of them to execute and deliver to the parties entitled thirds under said contract a deed of the land specified therein at any time when they shall secure in full the monies unpaid on said contract. AND LASTLY. I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my daughter Betsy Knapp executrix and my son Albert S. Knapp executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made. In witness whereof, I have hereto set m;y hand and seal this 4th day of February 1885. /s/ Anson C. Knapp The foregoing instrument consisting of one sheet of paper was at the date thereof subscribed by the said Anson C.
