Our son's teacher in his German Kindergarten was Tante (Aunt) Knapp, prounounced Kuh-nap (with the "a" short as in ahh). Knapp is a very common name in Germany and my Knapp ancestors are all German. They immigrated to southern Ohio (mainly Scioto Co.) and their name was anglicized about the time of WWI. I was about to unscribe from this list since the only messages seem to deal with 18th century Knapps from New England. Are there any other German Knapps who arrived mid-19th century?? Ann Daniels
