If anyone on the list is researching or has done research on the following family, I can surely use some help!!! It is confirmed that WILLIAM KNAPP (1697-1770), was a son of Caleb & Hannah (Clements) Knapp, of Stamford, and Norwalk, CT. His children are as follows: William, b. 1730, m. Esther Isaacs John, b. ca1732, m. Abigail Tusten James, b. 1736, m. Esther Drake Samuel, m. Mehitable ????? Sarah, m. 1st Samuel Webb; 2d-Jeremiah Kinner Catherine, m. James Stewart Hannah, m. 1st-Gershom Owens; 2d-Zephaniah Drake [her brother-in-law] Ann, b. 1738, m. Zephaniah Drake; he m. 2d-Hannah Knapp [entry above] Abigail, m. Benjamin Drake [his 2d wife] [All above have been confirmed to be correctly assigned] The following children remain with question: Margaret, b. ca1750 [probably a granddaughter rather than daughter? Did not marry Sam Webb "The Giant"!] Jonathan, b. 1719?-1722?; d. bef Nov 1799, m. Elizabeth ????? [Ferris? - claimed as such by others] NOTE: Will EXTRACT Orange Co, NY - Book "C":164, identifies his wife & children as wife, Elizabeth, followed by William, Catherine, Hannah, Elizabeth, Anna, Sarah, Jonathan, & John. Of these children, daughter Catherine, m. "Mr Tod " [probably m. Joseph Todd, of Orange Co, NY], who had a proven son, Joseph Todd, b. 11 Feb 1765 [per Rev War Pension claim], which would establish Catherine's birth year to be between 1745 & no later than 1747. This being the case then her father would no doubt have been born 1719-1722. Research and other correspondence from various sources has confirmed all children of William Knapp, except, Margaret, who may be a grandaughter & Jonathan, but no other information, & whose birthyear of 1730, as shown in the NKG (1953), is suspect in view of the NOTE above; the information leads to the possibility of a malassignment to this family group and the data cited for Jonathan's family belongs to another Jonathan and a different family group altogether???? If anyone has ANYTHING that will help place Margaret and Jonathan correctly, it would be deeply appreciated if you would e-mail me privately or post any information to the list that would help square this family away. My resources locally are insufficent to allow me to make necessary judgements or placement. Thank you, Fritz
