I have another John Knapp. Born 1810, do not know where. He was working on a steamer on the Mississippi River. Married Katherine Kunkel Coleman who was born in Pennsylvania and came west with her parents. After his death, she married her cousin John Gengerich. She died in Iowa and is buried in the West Lynn cemetery in Dallas county, near Linden. (The above information was taken from a Kohlmann family history, with a lot of inaccurate data) We do know they had two sons---Jacob and Thomas. John Knapp disappeared. We do not know where he died or was buried. We did find a divorce for Katherine and John so do not know if she remarried before he died or not? The family did not ever want to discuss John so we are not sure what the situation might have been? Some of the KNAPP descendents live in Iowa and Nebraska.
