Hello, Denean: I see Pat Knapp gave you some good info on your Knapp line. Are you in the Seattle area? Do you happen to know if you're related to Dr. Calvin Knapp, piano professor at Pacific Lutheran Univ. in Tacoma, WA? I don't know if he's still alive -- I took some classes from him in 1979-1980. He and his wife taught and played concerts together. He was a great teacher and a nice man. At the time, I never even thought about my Knapp family connection, nor thought to ask him about his roots. I've been kicking myself lately, thinking maybe I was related to Dr. Knapp and didn't even know it! I discovered my connection to the Nicholas Knapp line about Feb. 1999 through our wonderful Knapp-L mentor Fritz Knapp. I knew my gt-grandfather Irving Knapp (b. c1836) was in Ashtabula County, Ohio, and Fritz connected him to the Nicholas line (Connecticut to NY to Ohio) for me. What a thrill! I've recently had some phone conversations with a gt-gt-aunt who still lives in Jefferson, Ohio, and hope to take a trip back there one of these days to explore. Do you know about the Knapp Home Page, with its huge database? You've probably seen the link on the list, but if not, look here: http://members.xoom.com/knappdb/ It takes awhile to explore because it's so big, but if you haven't seen it you'll want to check it out.
