Joshua appeared in Kentucky by 1800 and married at least three times. His final marriage was to Mary "Polly" McDonald in Fleming County Kentucky in 1807. The 1850 census, indicates that he was born in New York. The death record of his daughter Hebe Knapp, indicates that she was born in 1794, to Joshua, while living in Jessamine County Kentucky. One John F. Knapp, born 1852, sold land in 1881 in Rowan County, near the area in which Joshua once lived. At the time of this sale, JF Knapp and his wife Susie J. Knapp were said to be residents of Hamberg, Erie County New York. This JF Knapp later returned to Morehead, Ky.,where he lived in 1810. Joshua Knapp and Polly were parents of one of my gggrandmothers. Emily Knapp, who married James Johnson, born in Fleming Co. Ky. and died in Carter Co. Ky. I would appreciate hearing from any New York relatives who may know of this Joshua.
