    2. Florence, Is this John Jacob Knapp?? I have been writing another Knapp searcher looking for John Jacob--I'll forward his e-mails to you since you seem to be looking for the same ancestor, and he and I think maybe my Abram and JJ Knapp are brothers! I'll keep you posted ! Michelle Florence Knapp wrote: > It could be. 2. Bill and Florence: My gggrandfather is a John Knapp from NY--born in 1834 to Abram Knapp and Freelove Stone in probably Saragtoga Co, later moved to Cattaraugus County. Abram was born in 1806-1808 and supposed one of three brothers, of whom we've never figured out their identity. Any possiblities? 1. Fw: [KNAPP] Knapp in southern IL
    2. Morrow
    3. Where in southern Illinois? It's a long shot, but I do know of one Knapp husband-and-wife who moved often, but lived in the southernmost county of Illinois and the Kentucky county just across the river for long periods. To my knowledge, they didn't have kids, but my knowledge is also very fragmentary. Union veteran Edward Knapp, born in NY, raised in Mich, married in Nashville, Tenn, soon after being discharged there. His pension file has several accounts of their subsequent moves: On Feb, 25, 1907, he listed his places of residence as "Nashville, Tenn. until 1866 then Springfield, Tenn. till 1870, then Lake Co. Tenn. till 1880, Arlington, Ky. 1900, then present address." A few months later (Aug. 19, 1907), he wrote: "Albion, Mich. from 1864 to 1866, then near Dixon Station, Tenn from 1866 to 1870. then at Springfield, Tenn. till 1873. Tiptonville Tenn 7 yrs then Arlington Ky. 4 yrs. Mounds Ills 6 yrs. Arlington Ky 6 yrs (NO. then Ark. 26014)." And on Jan. 18, 1908, it became: "Nashville Tenn. till last of 1866: Dixon Co. Tenn till 1869. Robinson Co. Tenn till 1871; Dixon Co. 1874; Lake Co. Tenn. 1879. Arlington Ky 1882, Mounds, Ills. 1888. Arlington 1894 then to Mississippi Co. Ark." That's all I know.
