    3. Hi Lea Ann, I can add a little info for you on SAMUEL F. KNAPP. Ashtabula Co. death records show that he died Oct. 22, 1896 in Pierpont. His place of birth was listed Pine Town, PA. You may want to join the new Ashtabula Co. mailing list to get more. The man who handles the list has a wealth of info on the county and gladly shares all that he can. There are several Gaults and Knapps in the Denmark Cemetery but that is not where Samuel is buried from the list that I have. Hope that gives you a path to follow. 3. Good afternoon to the KNAPP list members, The subject TIMOTHY KNAPP I show as a son of NICHOLAS and ELEANOR (LOCKWOOD) KNAPP. I show that he married twice, first to ELIZABETH SEYMOUR and second to MARTHA WEEKS. The problem is that I show that TIMOTHY and MARTHA married February 16, 1712, but ELIZABETH died June 17, 1713. Something amiss. I also have no children for TIMOTHY with either wife. If anyone on the list has any information that they are willing to share, it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. 2. I would like to say that sending our ind. gedcoms is a good idea. But searching through hundreds of gedcoms is rather time consuming, and as we know there are a few Johns in the Knapp lines. I prefer open communications such as this forum. You can't get the stories in a gedcom.

I agree, good idea. But first, here's my John KNAPP. He is my grt-grt grandfather. My KNAPP family came over from Germany around 1835. (Hesse-Darmstadt). I think I will do as suggested and post my descendent chart of John KNAPP at the rootsweb. I've already posted it here on the KNAPP mailing list a couple of times. But first, here's a bio on him that was written by one of our KNAPP family members: John Adam KNAPP (KNOPP) - 1853-1929 John Adam KNAPP was the 5th child born to Adam John KNAPP and Barbara (Dressel) KNAPP. John was born August 3, 1853 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a little over a year old when he came to Kansas territory with his parents and two older brothers. He grew to manhood on the 160 acre farm in Plum Creek Valley in Kickapoo Township, Leavenworth County, Kansas along with other brothers and sisters. (The Kickapoo Indians occupied this area during that time). On May 7, 1878, John Adam, a Protestant, married (by the Justice of the Peace in Leavenworth), his neighbor Julienne Mottin, a Catholic. Julienne was born February 20, 1860 and was baptized at St. Ferdinand (deFleurissant) Catholic Church in St. Louis, Missouri. Her parents were Leger Nicholas and Margarette N. Deslongchamp Mottin. Her father was a farmer. Julia was raised by her father and stepmother Mary Jane Desalme Mottin. Julia had one older sister Mary and 9 half-brothers and sisters. Mary and Julia's mother died in childbirth. In 1889, John bought his own farm of 160-acres in High Prairie Township, Leavenworth County, Kansas and became a well-known dairy farmer who delivered milk door to door in the city of Leavenworth. On September 19, 1929, John died in Basehor, Leavenworth County, Kansas at the age of 76 and is buried at Mt. Muncie Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas. Following were the children of John and Julia: ************************ Louis Francis, b. Jan. 29, 1879 and married Emma Thiebaud on Sept. 25, 1902. He died Oct. 29, 1948. Mary Agnes (my great-grandmother) was born Sept. 30, 1880 and married Pleasant Seymour on March 1, 1897. She died May 13, 1961 in Kansas City, Missouri. Henry Thomas was born Dec. 31, 1881 and married Mary E. Porter on Nov. 24, 1889. Henry died Aug. 6, 1951. Julia Anne was born Dec. 31, 1883 and married George Buchanan on July 29, 1907. Julia Anne died Mar. 13, 1934. Barbara F. was born May 18, 1885 and married Frank Seymour (her sister Mary's husband's brother) on Oct. 13, 1906. She died Feb. 27, 1956. Adam John was born April 5, 1887 and married Nellie Kventz ON April 13, 1911. He died Feb. 14, 1925. Leger Nicholas was born March 20, 1889 and married Edith L. Leffler on Feb. 20, 1910. He died Feb. 14, 1959. John Franklin was born April 7, 1891 and married Nellie May Chanev on August 27, 1916. He died Mar. 1937 of TB. Hezekiah Jeremiah was born Jan. 30, 1893 and married Anna Belle Parker on Dec. 26, 1921. (when he married Anna, he changed his name to Clyde because she didn't like "Hezekiah"). He died Aug. 4, 1938 of TB. Emma Josephine was born Dec. 18, 1894 and married Alfred B. Taylor on Sep. 16, 1912. She died mar. 28, 1932. William Elmer was born May 15, 1898 and married Helen M. Johnnie on Aug. 21, 1920. He died June 1, 1967. Homer Lester was born Feb. 10, 1901 and married Aletha Williams on april 2, 1927. He died Feb. 22, 1957. ************************************* Julia KNAPP, widow of John Adam married Henry Lebreton in the early 1930's. They were married about 4 years until he died. Julia died Aug. 4, 1944 at her home in Kansas City, Missouri. She was buried beside her first husband John Adam KNAPP at Mt. Muncie Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas. There is also a bio on John Adam's father, if anyone is interested. Also, I have one for Mike KNAPP, b. May 31, 1888 east of Lowemont, Kansas, the son of Tom and Eve KNAPP. Also, there's a short one on Hezekiah KNAPP. Maybe I should post these at rootsweb to see if any connects to my KNAPP family. It seems that most of the posts I see on the KNAPP mailing list are not of German descent. Anyway....that's my John KNAPP.

    3. Does anyone have information about a John Knapp who died "aboard ship, Lake Erie" in 1758 during the French and Indian War? I'd like to know the details around that, i.e., was he killed, did the whole boat go down, what kind of boat was it, was it a hostile action, was it weather, etc.

Any Knapp with 'John' is 90% likely to be English/Pilgrim. A lot of their holdings at the lib. include whole genealogies that go WAY BACK. Thought you would like to know. There were also quite a few listings on Benjamin Knapp at the Allen Co. P.L. These are not my lines. There were loads of John Knapp postings on the list--mostly by one person who recently unsub'ed btw. Jean

    3. I have a James Knapp born between 1810-1820 in England. He married Ann. I don't have her last name. Their children were James John Knapp born about 1840,Martha Ann Knapp born about 1842,Matthew Knapp born november 10 1844 and he married Charlotte,Emma Knapp born about 1847,Henry Knapp born 1852 and Robert William Knapp born about 1854,all in England around or in London,Now Matthew and Charlotte had a son named Matthew James who was also born in England but he ended up in Canada after a bar fight where he had thought he had killed someone. He had not but wasn't to know that till later.Since his father Mattew was into importing and exporting tea and coffee he put him on a boat to get him out of the country.I'm not sure if he came straight to Canada as he had told my grandfather that he had been in aukland New Zealand at one point.Matthew James was known to be well written plus played the piano and harp so I assume he came from money.Does anyone know my Knapp's as I'm at a dead en! d.
