    2. Hi, I just wanted to clarify something. I am not sure his name is Edward, It could be Edwin or any other name as E.H. Knapp was written on the back. I have ordered a microfilm with the census for Michigan and a Edward Knapp is listed for Calhoun co. hopefully he is mine. Thanks again, Lynn

    2. Hi Joe, I don't think they are the same, My Rose was born in 1850 Iam not sure where, probably NY, as that is what is listed on her marriage certificate and also her death certificate. Rose's parents where never mention on either paper. Rose died in 1889 in San Bernardino, Calif. She was 38. I have some other photos that show Will Knapps children and they where taken in Bakersfield, Ca. and one in Los Angeles. I am assuming he moved the Calif. also. Thanks for your reply and hopefully someone will know who they are. Sincerely, Lynn

    3. PS, Knox county IL is not that far from Tazewell co, IL. An elderly nephew of my parent says that Jerome's father lived in a county adjoining Perry co, IL but I have not located them in land sales in IL. This cousin's son Louis Knapp had done the family genealogy before his untimely death, he is the one who thought John Ira was a likely name for Jerome's parent. ??????? I have not seen his work. It wouldn't be totally unlikely that brothers would travel west and then split up on the trail, is it? do you have any allied names to your Knapps from VT? I always notice the adjoining neighbors in census and in the neighborhood. I checked out all with VT as old homes. 2. Hi, I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of a Edward H.Knapp? I found his name is a photo album that belonged to my grandmother. She had written in the front, my grandfather. The photo was taken in Homer, Michigan, after 1855. Another photo had the caption, my brother Will, on the back was written, W.H.Knapp. I think the family was originally from NY. I don't know where. E.H. Knapp was the father of my Rose Knapp. I am grasping at straws as I cannot find Rose's parents. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Lynn Crowder

    2. I don't know. I have a copy of Jonathon's will. Since you raised the question, I went back and looked at the "D" formations. Now, to me, it almost looks like an "I" in his name, but the "I"s and "J"s throughout the will all look the same. I didn't find a birth date for him either. I only have Lydia's and John W. (the oldest son who was arrested for the pension). I was hoping this was a connection. Oh well, who knows maybe it is and I just don't see it yet. Thanks so much for your reply. If I do find something, I will be in touch. Kim

This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------90DEEA883DBB87DBC43CE049 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Knapp researchers, I am looking for documentation of the area of New York and the parentage of one Joshua Knapp 1774-about 1855. Joshua appeared in Kentucky by 1800 and married at least three times. His final marriage was to Mary "Polly" McDonald in Fleming County Kentucky in 1807. The 1850 census, indicates that he was born in New York. The death record of his daughter Hebe Knapp, indicates that she was born in 1794, to Joshua, while living in Jessamine County Kentucky. One John F. Knapp, born 1852, sold land in 1881 in Rowan County, near the area in which Joshua once lived. At the time of this sale, JF Knapp and his wife Susie J. Knapp were said to be residents of Hamberg, Erie County New York. This JF Knapp later returned to Morehead, Ky.,where he lived in 1810. Joshua Knapp and Polly were parents of one of my gggrandmothers. Emily Knapp, who married James Johnson, born in Fleming Co. Ky. and died in Carter Co. Ky. I would appreciate hearing from any New York relatives who may know of this Joshua.
