    3. Dear fellow Knappers: It has been awhile since I have been here...I haven't much to contribute as I am limited to my resource material living in Manitoba and not near where my Knapp families came from...though I have been to the LDS. I just want to say thank you to so many of you who have contributed and have built my 'zero' knowledge of my Knapp family into a very thick stack of paper!! Also, through all of this I have been put in touch with some wonderful relatives who have been the best of help AND I have been put in touch with the 'other side' of family that I knew nothing about, the Halfhills from Iowa. Your work and contributions are so much appreciated, if it wasn't for you, I would know nothing of my Knapp family. My grandma Beatrice (Knapp) Chester who turned 90 in April is quite surprised of my findings! Thank You. Regards Shirley Marshall Brandon, Manitoba Canada

    1. [KNAPP-L] Benona KNAPP locations
    2. Hi, For your Benona KNAPP files. I have just received a copy of Benona's 1826 land patent for 80 acres in Macomb County, Michigan. It describes him as "Benona Knapp of Ontario County, New York" Land patent records eleven years later indicate that he moved to Oakland County, Michigan. Hope this will be useful for someone. 3. The D.S. Dickinson of Binghamton was Daniel S. Dickinson. See G-898 in the NKG for information on Dr. Colby Knapp and Daniel S. Dickinson. It is on p. 312. It is also important to note (as was pointed out recently from this group) that Daniel Dickinson was NOT a Vice President of the United States. -Stephen On Fri, 5 Jun 1998, Maureen DeBolle wrote: > Copied from microfilm # 1019522 > > Obituaries 1800-1920 Bloomingburg, NY > > 16 March 1853 > > Departed this life at the residence of D.S. 3. HI I have heard a lot about the Nicholas Knapp Geneology lately......And I am looking for info on my GGgrandmother, a Catherine KNAPP b. July 20, 1875 in Ohio. Her parents were William & Caroline (Berr) KNAPP. I think William had a sister named Mary, b. June 17, 1883 in Ohio. Her parents were Charles & Margaret KNAPP........If someone has a copy of the NKG, would you do a quick look up to see if anyone with these names and dates are mentioned within.....thanks in advance.....Barbara

    3. Please, let's keep this to genealogy and not politics. Obviously, these are matters of personal choice and opinion and I ask no one to accept my view, but I am appalled that a group of people making active use of the internet would begrudge making it more widely accessible to others. I'm certainly not rich, but I think it is very reasonable for me to pay a small tax to support internet connectivity for schools and libraries -- which is the designed purpose of this tax. This "hidden" tax was widely and publicly discussed when it was passed by Congress. There were numerous news stories about it at the time.
