I agree with Patricia about the cute little joke about the water balloon. This is for those of us that are serious about genealogy. Some may be young adults, but this is a genealogy list and not a playground. If someone wants to play with toys, and that's what I call the water ballon, do it to peoples personal address and not a list. Taking the time to scroll down and the finding out that it was a joke and not anything of importance can upset people. Some people print up all of the list info they get so when they find a link, they can go back and check all the mail and see what if anything has been posted about that person. In this case, the water balloon wastes sheet after sheet of paper. I just thought that I would put my two cents in on thsubject. If it upsets anyone I am sorry. I myself am serious about my genealogy work and do not like junk to come through on the lists that I am on. It is a waste of time. If I wanted things like that I would find a list that does nothing but jokes.
Info just received - passing it along without having visited the site [but will today]. May be helpful to someone on the list!? Thanks to Chris Ema for sharing this info. Preparing now & understanding what may need to be done to prepare for this changeover could save many headaches and expense later! True, it is not a "commercial", and it certainly isn't pornographic, and even though it is "cute", it certainly doesn't belong on a genealogy oriented mailing list, and it doesn't have any redeeming value. I might not object so much if I didn't have to scroll through so many "headers" to get to the message. If the message was right up front, I could simply hit the delete button. However, not only did I have to page down many times to read the message, but the message encouraged me to "go out there and hit as many people as you can before they get you!!" If everyone did that, we would bring the Internet to it's knees. Is that the intent of this "joke"? Is this the kind of message we want on this mailing list? I considered sending this message to the "sender" privately, but decided that it would have more effect if it was read by the entire list. I'm sorry if I embarrassed or offended anyone. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jack W. Hi, My mother-in-law was a KNAPP. Her mother divorced KNAPP when she was quite young, and she doesn't remember very much about him. Also, she is 90 and her memory isn't quite what it used to be. I have very little to go on. What I do have is Clarence KNAPP born abt. 1873, no parents known. He may have had as many as 11 sisters, one of whom was Susan. Susan married a SIMPSON Geraldine married John MALONEY Clarence married Ethel BOYINGTON abt. 1904. Div. abt 1912/14. Clar. died abt 1942/44 Paul KNAPP born 12 February 1907 @ Madison, Lake Co SD; died 29 June 1991 Edythe Laura KNAPP @ Madison born 25 March 1908 (my m-i-l) Ruby KNAPP born abt 1912 @ Madison, died abt 1913 Geraldine, the daughter of Susan is still alive, and I visited her in Madison, SD last fall. However, she has had a stroke and has very little memory left. I am hoping someone will have knowledge of Clarence and his sisters. Thanks Jenna
