Angela, I too am researching the Barnes surname. I don't have much at all yet. All I know is that Rachel "Cassie" barnes was born in Jackson, NC and married John Chastain (no date). Their daughter, Rachel Chastain was born about 1820 in Jacskonm NC...She later married Eldred (Sredwick) Cornett. Their son was William H. Cornett (b 7 Nov. 1855). William was my great grandfather. Any connections here?
