Ken, I understand that Maitland city was named after the Maitlands from Scotland. Also some of them took the name Lauder or Lauderdale as they were the Maitlands of Lauder. Ft Lauderdale is also named for them. There also was a James Maitland the Earl of Lauderdale and currently a Viscount Maitland that I belive is serving in the House of Parliment. According to what I have been told all Maitland's are related. I just can't make the connection yet. To find my ancestors I check every possibly lead and resource I can find.
