    3. My most interesting ancestor. Wow, I have so many that are interesting but I would have to choose my grandmother, Agnes Gourlay CAMERON. She was born in May 1894 in Greenock, Scotland. She came from a family of 10 children. Her parents had been friends of my other great grandparents the Cameron's. Agnes GOURLAY knew William CAMERON but he did not "court" her while they lived in Scotland. William CAMERON was in WWI and after the war he sailed to America on the same ship that Agnes GOURLAY did. They started their courtship on board and once the arrived in America eventually married. My grandmother became a widow at the age of 56 a few weeks before my grandparents were to move into their newly built home. My grandmother was interesting because when my siblings and I were growing up she made most of our clothes and knitted us sweaters. She always made our favorite food for our birthday's, mine was an old Scottish dish of Steak and Kidney Stew. Every year at Christmas time she would bake shortbread for all of the family and friends. As she grew older she developed arthritis in her hands, however this did not stop her from baking, sewing and knitting. She continued with the next generation, her great grandchildren. She did all those loving things up until she had a stroke in January 1975 and was in a coma until her death at the age of 81 in July 1975. She left a legacy as a kind hearted, loving person which she instilled in her children and grandchildren. We all are better persons for having Anges Gourlay CAMERON as a part of our lives. Today, I live in my grandparents last home and can still fill the love that they both left behind. Janet Tennent Kensington, Maryland Janet
