Hi everyone, I noticed a couple of people have subscribed twice, so I wanted to make sure that everyone's are aware that if you receive a notice from RootsWeb and it says you have been unsubscribed, you aren't really, I'm just cleaning up the subscriber list so all names only show once. If you've been told that you unsubscribed and you didn't do any such thing, don't panic, it's just me keeping the list cleaned up. The owner asked for entries .... Hi ..... looking for information that would collaborate the story that my Grandfather's sisters (Gerdes) married two (Harms) brothers and two others married Pieper brothers. At least that is the way the story goes. Minnesota .... farm country .... 1890s. Ken Gerdes ken@guardianmfg.com Melbourne, FL
Hi Everyone, I thought I would start out by listing my brick wall relatives, in hopes that someone out there might be able to help me figure out who the one is. My g-grandparents were Winchester Adkins born 1849 in Wayne Co. W.V and Delphia Adkins born 1852 in Cabell Co. W.V. They were married on December 2nd, 1869 in Cabell Co. I have info on Winchester back to the 1600's, but I have never been able to find out who Delphia's parents are. I don't know if the two were related or just had the same name. Does anyone know of these two? I have lots of other kissing cousins in mine nd my husband's line but these ar the trouble makers
Hi everyone, I'm going to keep this short, but wanted you to know that as it stands now we have 37 people who've subscribed in Mail mode and 5 in Digest mode. There are people out here who can read and see what you say, so don't be shy. Thanks to all for subscribing and if there's anything you need help with, feel free to E-Mail me. There are several instances of cousins marrying cousins in my family tree but I thought this was interesting, even tho they were not cousins. Let me see if I can explain this without confusing everyone. I have tried to explain it to my mother and my sister and they are still confused *L*!! Dread Pelfrey is my mother's father's mother's father. (Ada Deal/Arthur Deal/ Becca Pelfrey Deal/Dread Pelfrey). He first married Elizabeth Lovelady. To that marriage was born Rebecca Elizabeth Pelfrey. Rebecca Elizabeth Pelfrey married Martian Juan Deal (The had James Arthur Deal, my mom's father). After the death of his first wife, Dread married Elmira Deal, who just happens to be Juan Deal's sister (she had been married to Bill McVay before her marriage to Dread). So that makes Elmira Deal Pelfrey, Juan Deal's sister AND his mother in law (I think....it is sooo confusing! *L*). And I have no idea what that makes any of the rest of us! All this cousin removed business is too confusing for me to attempt. Not quite "I'm My Own Grandpa" but close! *L* Debi
My g-g-g-grandfather, William Davis, Jr. of Marion District SC married his first cousin, Mary Davis. Their fathers were brothers, William and Benjamin Davis. My g-grandfather, William Hight Davis of Clarke Co. AL married Sarah A. (Sallie) Grayson; when she died, he married her sister, Harriet Elizabeth (Lizzie). His sister, Caroline Emily Deborah Davis, married Sallie and Lizzie's brother, Alexander Harvey Grayson. In Hardeman Co. TN I have three McGlothlin siblings marrying three Crain siblings: Ephraim McGlothlin to Margaret Jane Crain, Samuel Parmlee McGlothlin to Louisa Lemore Crain, and Marah Ann McGlothlin to James Martin Crain. To my knowledge none of the children of these marriages married each other. Nancy Davis Harwood Houston, TX
It's been a long day. Glad to meet all of you. This has been a very busy list today. Talk to you tomorrow. Jerrian
Hello, all. :) This will be a short introduction that gets rather quickly into numerous cousin marriages. I am a descendant of Thomas HARDY. He came to America in 1630 with John Winthrop. In 1633, he was one of the 12 original founders of Ipswich, MA. There, he and his wife had 7 children. All 7 would survive to adulthood, marry and have children. Sometime shortly after the last one was born in Ipswich, Thomas moved his family a little ways to the north to Bradford. In 1727 a new church was started. The Groveland Congregational Church which was formerly the East Parish church of Bradford. Of the first 101 members, 33 were named Hardy. As far as I know, ALL of them were descendants of Thomas. I know that there are numerous cousin marriages. Some are not Hardy/Hardy simply because one of the spouses is the child of a couple where the mother's maiden name was Hardy. I'll get some of these posted soon. On another line, I have a case of 2 Ostrander sisters marrying 2 Hardy brothers. Martha E. OSTRANDER, b. 27 Mar 1853, probably in the Jasper, NY area, and Emma Jean OSTRANDER, b. 13 Mar 1854, probably Jasper, NY area, were the daughters of William OSTRANDER and Betsey HAYES. Andrew HARDY, b. 12 Jan 1851, Jasper, NY, and Ephraim E. HARDY, b. 18 Jun 1853, Jasper, NY, were the sons of Adrian HARDY and Lovisa CARROLL. Martha m. Andrew and Emma m. Ephraim on 24 Nov 1875. Both couples moved to Lewis, KS, date unknown. I have the descendants of both couples and the ancestry of the Hardys. However, I have not been able to get the ancestry of the Ostrander girls. John Slaughter/Spokane, WA Q. Why do genealogists die with a smile? A. Because they know they are about to get another date on their pedigree. http://www.geocities.com/~jslaughter/HistoryOfIpswich.html http://www.geocities.com/~jslaughter/WalkingTour.html http://www.geocities.com/~jslaughter/Groveland
