    1. [KISSINGCOUSINS-L] The terminology of: anförlust
    2. Someone on another list asked the question: If someone has a moment, could you advise me as to the meaning of "anförlust" And this reply came back: I don't know the English word for "anförlust", it would be something like "lost ancestors". It means, however, that if two of your ancestors were already related to each other, some of their ancestors will appear in more than one place on your pedigree chart. An example: If your parents were cousins because their fathers were brothers, you will have 2 parents, 4 greatparents, but only 6 greatgrandparents (instead of 8) (and in the next generation you will have 12 persons instead of 16). Your father's father's parents and your mother's father's parents would be the same persons, thereby you have "lost" two ancestors (and so on, back to Adam :-) ) Especially in rural communities "everybody was related to everybody" in some way, and you are very likely to meet examples of "anförlust", even if they are not as obvious as the example given above. Just thought you KISSINGCOUSINS-L people might get a kick out of this word. Have a nice day, and gosh, you are all so "quiet".... 2. Scott & Roxanne Munns
    3. Dear Betsy and all "listers"! The reason I joined this list is because I have a WARD family and a JONES family (terribly common surnames to begin with) where three of the WARD brothers married three of the JONES sisters. Aaaagh! I'm still trying to sort out which WARD married which JONES. The only one I know for sure is that John WARD married Elizabeth Jane JONES (abt. 1880) in Wisconsin. I'll re-post when I have more information on the other two marriages. If this sounds even vaguely familiar, I'd love to hear from you! Thank you, Roxanne -----Original Message----- From: Charmd1z@aol.com [mailto:Charmd1z@aol.com] Sent: Friday, June 04, 1999 6:50 PM To: KISSINGCOUSINS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [KISSINGCOUSINS-L] Welcome to all the new subscribers, Can you post your surnames please? Using WordPerfect 6.1 which does great cross-referencing and indexing, but the first time I use any form (i.e. group sheets, research log, etc.) I have to create the blank form. 3. Angela, I too am researching the Barnes surname. I don't have much at all yet. All I know is that Rachel "Cassie" barnes was born in Jackson, NC and married John Chastain (no date). Their daughter, Rachel Chastain was born about 1820 in Jacskonm NC...She later married Eldred (Sredwick) Cornett. Their son was William H. Cornett (b 7 Nov. 1855). William was my great grandfather. Any connections here? 1. [KISSINGCOUSINS-L] Adams/Adams
    2. Rose Adams
    3. Hello brand new list :-) My kissing cousins are Willy William Adams & Rosa Catherine Adams from MO. These Adams lived in Buchanan, Andrew and Ray counties. Rosa was born Dec 1876, Platte Township, Andrew County. I don't know about Willy yet, except that he was a first cousin on the Adams side. If I am figuring it out right, he would have to be the son of her fathers brother. Her father was Benjamin Franklin Adams b. 1839, MO. Mother was Lodusky Jane Cummins. They married Sept 5, 1859, Ray County, MO. They has these children: Benjamin Franklin ADAMS 1839 ,,Missouri --SPOUSE-- Lodusky Jane CUMMINS 1844 ,,MO,USA --CHILDREN-- 1-Ulysses H ADAMS 2-Madison J ADAMS 3-Charles G ADAMS 4-Rachel R ADAMS 5*Rosa Catherine ADAMS 6-Silvia R ADAMS 7-Elsa S ADAMS Benjamins parents and siblings were: James ADAMS ,,Tennessee,USA --SPOUSE-- Catherine THOMAS ,,North Carolina,USA --CHILDREN-- 1*Benjamin Franklin ADAMS 2Henry Clay ADAMS 3George Washington ADAMS 4-Samuel Madison ADAMS 5Cleopatra Ann ADAMS 6-Thomas Jefferson ADAMS 7Barsheba ADAMS 8-Mary Jane ADAMS 9John Quincy ADAMS 10-ADAMS So, as I figure it, it had to be the son of one of James' sons. Cousins Rosa & Willy had a son Willis Raymond Adams b. St Joseph, 1896. He told me his fathers name and said his grandfather was Madison or Matt. Any help out there? Rose Adams in CA.

    3. Have you noticed in the RootsWeb Review Age Survey there were 4 90 & over readers (90-99 -- 1; 100-109 -- 1; 110-119 -- 1; and 120 and counting -- 1). This made me think - I've used WordPerfect for close to 10 years because I was tired of programs that automatically flagged anyone over 100 as an error in the date. Are there any programs that dont do this? Also, are there any programs that don't balk at double entries. IE - M ggmom and ggdad had siblings who married the other's siblings. With the programs I once used (admitidly 10 years ago) I had to put in info twice and would get an error like "you gave this couple 2 children with the same name & DOB." NO you stupid computer - they are the same! Gail -- Bill, Esther, & M.
