    1. Free Database for a few days
    2. Tracy Huffman
    3. Thought I'd forward this so everyone can take a look. Enjoy, Tracy Good evening to all, A Heads Up on the New England Historical & Genealogical Register (NEHGS). They will be opening their database soon to anyone for a short period of time. I would imagine the site will be packed with people trying to log in and look at the data. "A Feast of Ancestors! Enjoy Free Access to the Register Online Over Thanksgiving Weekend! NEHGS is pleased to offer free access to its New England Historical and Genealogical Register database on NewEnglandAncestors.org over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend! Normally only available to NEHGS members, the Register database will be accessible to everyone from Thursday, November 25 through Sunday, November 28, 2004. We encourage all NEHGS members to spread the word about this offering, and we hope that those of you who are not members find a veritable feast of ancestors in the Register database! Published quarterly since 1847, The New England Historical and Genealogical Register is the flagship journal of American genealogy and the oldest journal in the field. The online database includes issues from 1847 to 1994. The Register has featured articles on a wide variety of topics since its inception, including vital records, church records, tax records, land and probate records, cemetery transcriptions, obituaries, and historical essays. Authoritative compiled genealogies have been the centerpiece of the Register for more than 150 years. Thousands of New England families have been treated in the pages of the journal and many more are referenced in incidental ways throughout. The articles in the Register range from short pieces correcting errors in print or solving unusual problems to larger treatments that reveal family origins or present multiple generations of a family. Look for details on how to obtain free access to the Register in a special eNews bulletin to be sent out Wednesday, November 24. A link will also be available on that date on the home page of our website, www.NewEnglandAncestors.org." ==== COLAPLAT Mailing List ==== For a copy of list guidelines & etiquettes please visit http://www.geocities.com/addie_morrissey/CoLaPlat.html . 1. [KISER-L] KISER & HUSSEY Marriage Certificate
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" a beautiful old marriage certificate belonging to Clarence E. HUSSEY of Holland, Vermont and Dora E. KISER of Irasburg, Vermont who were married on the 23rd of March 1897 at Holland, Vermont. The ceremony was performed by John T. BARCENDALE and witnessed by Mrs. BARCENDALE. Based on limited research I find Clarence HUSSEY b. 1876 at Holland, VT to parents John HUSSEY and Mary NASON. His marriage is also recorded with the bride's name noted as Dora E. KISER FISEL leading me to believe that KISER may be her maiden name and FISEL a surname from a previous marriage. I'm hoping to locate someone from the family so that this beautiful old treasure can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    1. [KISER-L] FYI - List Info.
    2. Col. Carlis B. Wilson
    3. I am glad you are a list member and it is a pleasure to be the Administrator of the list. However I need your help in maintaining the list. My biggest problem is bounce mail. The list is rather slow at times, and in that time some may change their email address and not unsubscribe from the list before doing so and others have full mailboxes and this caused their mail to bounce. Here is an example of what happens. Ten addresses bounce when a message is sent out. which means that I get ten messages from the meal daemon. So lets say ten messages are sent out, ten messages times ten bounces are 100 bounces. One thing everyone can do is make sure there is room to receive your mail from the list. If you are going on a long vacation from checking your mail, think about unsubscribe and then re-subscribe when you are ready to receive and maintain your mail. Thanks for your kind consideration in helping me with the list. Carlis B. Wilson, Administrator. 3. Pam, Henry S. Kiser was my great grandfather Henry Saxman Kiser, he married Sarah Ann Kimmel and lived all his life in Derry, near Latrobe, Pennsylvania. The only place I ever saw my Kiser line listed as Keiser was in the 1850 PA census and I suspect it was just how the enumerator decided to spell the name. Pat-T

    2. Do you have information on the Kisers of southwest Virginia? I believe my grandfather was a John E. Kiser who lived in Russell County, Virginia. He was married to an Alice Hensly (a widow) and had several legitimate children with her. His father was James "Black Jim" Kiser. My grandmother Winnie Edith LaForce had 8 children out-of-wedlock with a John E. Kiser beginning in 1911. She never married, but was a highly respected Baptist women in Russell County. I've always wanted to understand this situation. My kin isn't talking and I've had a heck of a time doing research on this. Thanks for anything you may be able to contribute..............
