Today, as Administrator of several Mailing Lists, I once again was notified of messages that were not accepted for posting to some of the Lists I manage. This is not only aggravating, it is extremely time consuming when I have to wrestle with messages that would have been posted had the senders followed some simple rules. In an effort to "educate" users on proper posting procedures, I offer the following: 1) For those who receive Mailing List posts in the Digest Mode, DO NOT quote back the entire Digest when replying! 2) When you reply, quote back just that portion to which you are replying. Highlight and delete all other portions, including the junk at the bottom of all posts. For those "newbies" who don't know how to "highlight" you put the mouse cursor at the beginning of the text, hold down the left button of the mouse and move the cursor to the end of the text. Release the left mouse button and the text will be "highlighted". Then you just hit the DEL key on the keyboard. 3) When you reply, DO NOT leave the subject line as it was in the Digest. If you do, the subject line will read something like this: "RE: LISTNAME Digest, Vol 2, Issue 2", where LISTNAME is the actual name of the List. This tells readers absolutely nothing about your actual reply or the original post. CHANGE THE SUBJECT LINE TO MATCH THAT OF THE ORIGINAL POST "INSIDE" THE DIGEST. Let's say that message Number 2 inside the Digest actually had the subject of "[LISTNAME] J. A. Smith born in TX". THAT is the subject you need to copy and paste into your reply, not the subject of "LISTNAME Digest, Vol 2, Issue 2". 4) This may seem to be a lot of work for those of you who receive the List postings in Digest Mode, but if you're going to receive in Digest Mode, and you're going to reply to a post in the Digest, you're going to have to follow the rules, that is, don't quote back the entire Digest, AND change the subject line. I don't want to sound too dictatorial, but bad subject lines do no good for anyone. Many subscribers receive posts from dozens of Mailing Lists and just don't have time to actually read the bodies of the hundreds of daily posts they receive. Instead, they rely on Subject Lines to let them know what is in the posts, and to know if they need to read the bodies. Also, when a person replies to ANY post, whether in Digest Mode or not, and quotes back the ENTIRE post, the reply contains superfluous text that is not needed and just takes up more space on the servers at Rootsweb when the posts are "archived". The archived posts are there forever and so is the unnecessary quoting. Thanks for listening, Sarge (George W. Durman, Mailing List Administrator)

Occupation Tischler- Meister 3. Research, 1838-1861 (Research):We found all the children of Wilhelm Keyser and Carolina Giebler born between 1838 and 1861. Aguste Wilhelmine Marie - she married Johann Wehling Johanne Aguste Friederike - Married ??? Johanne Auguste Christiane - she married Fritz Becker these three above emigrated as the parents did. Johann Gottlob Johann Christoph Friedrich Johann Friedrich Christian These brothers died young or before they were married We know nothing about Johann Heinrich Carl Keyser born in 1839 and his sister Johanne Caroline Friederike Keyser born in 1848. They may have stayed and married in Germany or they may have came to America and settled in Iowa, Nebraska or South Dakota. Caroline Friederike Elisabeth married Johann Christian August Böttner in Hohenebra and she had a baby in Nordhausen, his parents were from Kirchengel so they may have raised a family in one of those areas of Germany. I did find a Selma Böttner 3 years old traveling with cousin Robert Wehling and his and her Grandparents on the ship Main in 1881 when they immigrated to America and one can speculate that her parents had died and she immigrated with her Grandparents although I have not found any evidence here in the United States or in Germany to support either theory. 4. Immigration, 9 Jun 1882 - Ship, Main To New York City 5. Family Note, 14 Mar 1885 The Keyser's moved to Crow Lake, Jerauld County, SD arriving on March 14, 1885. They broke some ground and built a 10' X 12' house for $30 and moved in on April 11, 1885. They came here from Denison, Crawford County, Iowa. Wilhelm Keyser died there on October 16, 1886. In an affidavit given in 1888, Karoline says she is still living on the land with her 10 year old grandson!!! Karoline has signed these documents as Karoliene Keyser, with an umlaut over the y in Keyser . Her handwriting is very plain......no mistaking what she has written. Wilhelm filed his first papers for naturalization in Jerauld County. In the document he says he emigrated to the U.S. and landed at the port of New York on or about the month of June 1881.

Hello, My second genealogy book has gone to the publisher! The Lauer, Borgmeier, Bauer Families and the MacCubbins traces these families from Germany to Baltimore, Maryland during the years 1650 to present. This book traces the ancestry of William Edward Lauer back to his 5th great grandfather, Nicolaus Lauer, born about 1665 in Stürzenhard, Germany. Nicolaus was great grandfather of Simon Lauer, who immigrated to Baltimore, Maryland in 1852. The Borgmeier, BAUER, and Würz families are also documented back to their German homeland. The MacCubbin family is followed from the immigrant, John MacCubbin, through his son, William, to Mary Susanna MacCubbin Lauer The KISERs start with Sebastian and Maria Kiser who had the following child: Sebastian Kiser was born in 1679 This family lived in the Neckar Valley of Germany in and around Neckargerach. They married in the Herchardt and Veith families. I do not follow this family later than 1730 in Germany. For more information, please contact me directly at nanlauer@comcast.net. Thanks, Nancy Waters Lauer

I received message V06 #4 except when I opened it, all I could see in the above "Attach:" line was a light blue bar. So I thought I would forward it back to KISER-D @ rootsweb. But when I clicked on the forward button, up popped these 3 Postings in the Attach: line. Weird! I wonder if there is something I am doing wrong. Should I unsubscribe then resubscribe? I even went back into my deleted file to see what would happen if I clicked forward on the two previous "empty" messages and voila, there were the attachments. I guess I could continue to view these message via the forward button, but this is the only rootsweb site that comes through this way. Just tossing it out to see if anyone has any suggestions? Maybe as one reader suggested, it is because our name is spelled KISOR! :-) Mary Lee ----- Original Message ----- From: <KISER-D-request@rootsweb.com> To: <KISER-D@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, May 03, 2006 6:00 AM Subject: KISER-D Digest V06 #4 ------=_NextPart_000_0148_01C66ECD.AEA09B70 Content-Type: message/rfc822; name="ATT00238.eml" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="ATT00238.eml" Content-Type: text/plain KISER-D Digest Volume 06 : Issue 4 Today's Topics: #1 Postings ["Lee and Mary Lee Kisor" <lmkisor@] #2 Re: Postings [Judy Shumway <judy_sh@treca.org>] Administrivia: To unsubscribe from KISER-D, send a message to KISER-D-request@rootsweb.com that contains in the body of the message the command unsubscribe and no other text. Thanks, Jim. If anyone is interested in participating, you oan access the link to the Kaiser/Kiser/Kizer DNA project through my Michael Kiser web site (http://arslanmb.org/kiser/kiser.html). It gets you a discount off the normal test price from www.familytreedna.com. This is a great tool for research to interconnect these various families. If there is interest, I can set up a fund to allow the collective Kiser research community to jointly support the cost of testing for guys like Jim with the right Y-chromosomes to participate. ----- Original Message ----- From: 2thdr1@bellsouth.net Date: Monday, May 1, 2006 11:19 am Subject: To: KISER-L@rootsweb.com > Hello fellow Kiser's, > > I have submitted dna to Family DNA.com to participate it the > Kaiser/keyser/kiser surname project. > The DNA used is junk dna and is basicly Y chromosomal dna markers > that can show the closeness of the nearest close relative in time. > The test is done with a cheek swab scraping and provides us with > the ability to see if we have a near common ancestor. > Currently 3 Kisers have submitted dna. Hello fellow Kiser's, I have submitted dna to Family DNA.com to participate it the Kaiser/keyser/kiser surname project. The DNA used is junk dna and is basicly Y chromosomal dna markers that can show the closeness of the nearest close relative in time. The test is done with a cheek swab scraping and provides us with the ability to see if we have a near common ancestor. Currently 3 Kisers have submitted dna. The project needs more males with the Kiser/Keyser/Kaiser surname to participate. I suggest that you start with a 25 marker test. I'm anxious to have someone submit who know they are in the Michael Kiser/Eppert line and the Karl/Charles line. These lines have many family members in Page and Rockingham and Russell Counties in VA and some in Ohio. The more tests that are submitted the better results that will be obtained. Good hunting to all. Dr. Jim Kiser in So Louisiana but born in the "Burgh" PA.
Sorry my reply is so delayed. I am a novice researcher so am just basically getting started on My Kiser Clan. Right now the persons you name are not in my list but I will continue to search. My list includes Israel Kiser (born in PA and emigrated to Ohio and died in Lamarm MO Dec. 31, 1887), married three times with children by each wife. 1st wife Susanna (Susannah) Strawser (Ross County, Ohio); 2nd wife Catharine Strawser (also Ross County, Ohio) I believe this may have been Susanna's sister; 3rd wife Frances Wilcox, Blendon Township, Franklin County, Ohio. Israel had nine children: Wife #1-Sarah (not positive on this one), Wife #2-Caroline, Martha, Isaac, Wife #3-Charlotte "Lotta", Charles, Carrie, Louis. My great grandfather was Isaac. Isaac's children were Rosa, Arthur (may have been twin with twin sister), Henry, Frank, Kathryn. My grandfather was Frank. Frank had one son, Willis, my father. Willis' children were Judy (me) and Rollin Arthur. I married Fred Shumway and had two sons: Jeffrey William (age 29 and not married) and Jack Edward (deceased at 33 days of age in 1980). Rollin has been married four times: Children are Joseph Scott and Kelly Michelle by first wife Barbara Roby; Angela Sue by second wife Linda Roberts; no children with third wife Yvonne Peterson; and currently no children with fourth wife Marybeth Garber. Children of Joseph Scott Kiser are Lyndsey Nicole (married to Brett Turner and expecting first child in October); Jordan Scott (currently high school student in Las Vegas, NV. Kelly Kiser married Clay Shell (first husband) and had one daughter Aspen Kayla who is 10 yr. Second husband, Jerry Moore and has one daughter Kinzie Lee and expecting second child in December. If you have any links I'd appreciate learning the connections. I just checked my copy of The Kiser Family Genealogy. I got it from Earl Hitt. His wife's family were Kiser's from Pennsylvania. I didn't see your Israel listed in the Indexes on the CD. But somewhere in the back of my mind, I seem to remember some Kiser's from Ohio, so I'll dig around and see if I can remember where I saw the information. Will get back to you on the Kiser's. Does anyone have infor on David Kiser of Tenn ca 1800- prior North Carolina. I understand he was one of 5 brothers who came to US. julie
For those of you who are males with the Kiser surname (or some variation), please consider joining the Kaiser Surname Project at http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=X21121&special=True&projecttype=S, which covers all surname variations. This involves getting a Y-chromosome DNA test conducted (it doesn't hurt!!!) and submitting the results to the project. We will look for matches to determine the genealogical relationship of the various Kiser families (of various spellings) in the USA, Germany, and elsewhere. I suggest that you have the 25-marker test (or higher) for it to be useful for differentiating families. This is a very exciting new tool when used in combination with resource into historical source records.
Sorry, but seems like none of these are connected to me. I shall keep trying though. Thanks.

Here's the website for the new email group for Kiser descendants so we can network, share info, and not duplicate each other's efforts: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Kiser_Genealogy Thank you! JHS (whose spouse is a descendant of Ambrose Kiser and Sarah Hill)
Hi, **This message is being sent to the KISER mailing list.** The email address that RootsWeb has for the KISER list admin salt2light@yahoo.com is bouncing, so RootsWeb is looking to make contact with the list admin. Will the list admin please contact Andrew Billinghurst (billingh@rootsweb.com) so that we know that you are still maintaining this list and please reply quoting this message. List members there is nothing for you to worry about and nothing for you to do, it is probably just an email problem for the person looking after the day-to-day management of this list. Rest assured that this does not mean that your list is in danger. Thanks!
