    3. Welcome Dave! My great grandfather Michael Kirwan was born in 1865 to Thomas Kirwan and Catherine Byrne. Thomas worked in the mines at Avoca (where the current tv show Ballykissangel is set!) in Co. Wicklow. Michael and his brother Philip came to Boston; their brothers James and Thomas wound up in Foxrock, Co. Dublin. Foxrock is about 6 or 7 km South of Dublin City, and about a mile from Blackrock, which in turn is not even a km from Booterstown ( I suspect that your Butostown is actually Booterstown). I don't know if I have any record of your family, but I can tell you that there is a Joseph Kirwan buried 4/16/1911 in Blackrock Cemetery, with his wife Catherine, who died 6/18/1907, and that they had children named Catherine, James, Joseph, and Monica Mary (who died 11/23/1984 and is buried with her parents). With the facts that you have, I'd suggest that the 1901 and 1911 Irish censuses could be a great start for you. Let me know if you need help.
