My name is David(Joseph Thomas) Kirwin (dave is fine!) and thought I'd found out a bit about my surname and history. Being an artist I have tracked down the coat of arms for Kirwin and a vague description of how it came to be, but i would like more info than that. I would really like to know if the coat of arms I have is correct given the amount of variations on our name. My family history is very short in the knowledge department. My grandad (Jack Joseph Kirwin) was born in Ireland in 1903, no location althought my father (Brian Joseph Kirwin) recalls that his grandfather lived in a suburb of Dublin called Butostown (?)!!, and he had a brother was called Joe and lived in Blackrock. Jack had one brother and two sisters, Jimmy, Mona and May. Aunty May has passed on, so has I believe has Mona, who was a lady of the cloth. Anything else is vague memories - my grandparents left little in the way of "solid" history....dunno if anyone can help? (or is vaguely interested!!!hahaha).:) happy new year! Dave
