I have a James Joseph Kerwin III(b 08 Oct 1906 - Manchester, Hillsborough Co., NH, baptised 11 Oct 1906, Church of St. Anne, Manchester, NH) son of James Joseph Kerwin Sr., (b 08 Aug 1872, d 03 Feb 1917, Man. NH, Occupation Pharmacist)m. Grace J. Kennedy 1899 in Franklin or Man. NH (Grace b 05 Mar 1879, Franklin, NH). James Joseph Kerwin Sr. was son of James Joseph Kerwin and Catherine Quigley, both born Ireland (probably immigrated to Canada). Grace J. Kennedy was the daughter of Patrick Lucias Kennedy (a Hotel Proprieter in Franklin or Manchester NH) and Nancy Gage Green. Patrick Lucias Kennedy gave his b'day as 17 Mar 1849 (as we know, those who did not know their DOB often chose St. Pat's day for it, so his DOB is of course questionable). Any kindred or fellow researchers out there?

I recently found that my g-g-grandfather was James Kirwin. He was married to Margaret Corrigan, both born in Ireland and came to New York, Buffalo area, around 1857-58. I also found buried in Holy Cross Cemetery the following Kirwins: Phillip died 10/2/1895 Mary Ann died 6/10/1897 Owen died 9/30/1903 Thomas W. died 7/11/1908 Bridget died 8/7/1908 83 yo Frank died 8/23/1913 Bridget died 9/20/1927 74 yo Joseph died 1/16/1929 Bernard F.died 10/22/1949

My greaat grandfather was John W. Kirwin, born 1845 in Canada. He married a Catherine Kennedy, born1843 in Wilton Center, Illinois. They moved to Hodgeman County, Kansas before 1880 -- my grandmother was born there in 1878. Both John and Catherine died in Wichita, Kansas. I have not been actively looking for Kirwins (Kirwans) because proving what I find seems nearly impossible. I knew my grandmother but never asked about her parents. I've been told my grandfather's middle name was Wesley, but that seems unlikely since he was Catholic. Perhaps it was William. Carole Shanahan

Since my husband has packed all of my genealogy stuff, this is all from memory! :) We are moving!!! Matthew Kerwin (from IRL) m. Ann McCarthy (from IRL) came to western New York. One of his sons, James Kerwin owned a business (see Wyoming Co. NY GenWeb page for details) in the area. He married Catherine O'Brien, who was born in County Waterford. One of their sons, Edward Kerwin married Mary Eleanor "Nellie" Dodge in December 25, 1902. My grandmother, Katherine Lyle Kerwin, was born September 24, 1903. :) Nellie's parents were Elliot W. Dodge and Susan Lyle, both from Warren County, PA. There are more Dodges and Kerwins but I don't have the info in front of me. On the Wyoming County, NY GenWeb page, James' personal business book has been transcribed. The names of his children and grandchildren are listed. My great grandfather was John C. Kirwan, who left Bournea (also written Bourney) Parish, about 3 miles south of Roscrea, County Tipperary for America in early 1861. His mother was Mary, but I don't know her maiden name, nor do I know his father's name. John had a brother Jeremiah, and sisters Margaret and Anne. There may have been others. Mary lived in Ballyknock (various spellings) townland in the parish in the late 1860s. In America, he lived in Clinton County, Ohio, then Cameron, Missouri, then Ceresco, Nebraska and finally O'Neill, Nebraska, where he and his wife, Judith Johanna Reardon are buried in the Catholic Cemetery. Hello to all. My Kirwan connection is Michael Kirwan, born in Clon Mel, Tipperary Ireland, 1823, emigrated to United States from Cobh, County Cork, January 1847 and lived in Towanda, PA. Many of you know that there is a certain MitDNA that is only passed from mother, to daughter, to daughter, to daughter, etc. My earliest maternal grandmother was MARY KIRWIN, born 1799 in Ireland. Kirwin Wilson arrived in the early sixties and for a long time lived on the creek near the Missouri immediately west of the reservation line near Joe Ellis where he died about 1880. His wife was a Yankton Sioux. He was a member of the territorial legislature in 1866-7. Wilson was a man far above average in intelligence and education but whiskey ruined his life.

In November, 1864, pursuant to "An Act to amend the Laws relating to the Burial of the Dead in Ireland", the decision was announced that the ancient cemetery at Kill O' The Grange (formerly called Clonkeen) in South Co. Dublin would be closed. A public outcry arose, in part because the new cemetery at Deansgrange was not yet open, so there was no nearby Catholic cemetery. A petition protesting the closure was circulated, and eventually signed by 2,296 persons. The Dun Laoghaire Genealogical Society has published a pamphlet listing all the signatories.
