Found this though someone might need it. Knoxville Gazette 5 Nov 1791 Knoxville Gazette Vol. I, No. 1, 5 Nov 1791 (page 3 column 3) Knoxville, September 5. On Wednesday evening last Mr. James Kilpatric was killed by a party of Indians on Poor Valley Creek, about 17 miles from Hawkins Courthouse and 3 miles from the main Kentuckey road. Mr. Kilpatric had gone out to drive up his cattle, and was not more than 400 yards from his house when the Indians fired on him; they instantly made off without attempting to scalp him.
