Hi Everyone: When I was very young we lived on a farm outside of Latah, WA (Southeastern section of the state). One summer day my older brother and I rode our bikes on the highway going East toward Latah. We got hot and thirsty and stopped at the cemetery, seated on a rise above the road. There was a huge shade tree, and we knew there would be water available. After we slaked our thirst we decided to roam about for awhile. We began going up the hill toward the oak tree at the cemetery. When we were very close to the tree we looked down and noticed several large markers and on them was the surname Kirkpatrick (our mother's maiden name). I thought it was interesting. Well, today I was checking out the USGenWeb project in the state of WA and discovered the index to the Latah Municipal Cemetery. I scrolled down through it and lo and behold were the following names. Anybody know who they belong to? I have checked my data base and there are several possibilities, but nothing concrete. Kirkpatricks Buried at Latah Cemetery, Latah, WA KIRKPATRICK, Charles S 1875-12/28/1946 4-16-5 71yr. KIRKPATRICK, Harry E. 1865-1934 4-25-7 KIRKPATRICK, Hattie J. 1870-1969 4-25-8 KIRKPATRICK, Mamie A. No dates 4-16-6 KIRKPATRICK, Ralph I. 1896-1971 4-25-9 Maybe one of you know who their people were. It appears they pioneered the Latah area. I don't have a written history of Latah, WA - so I don't know how they fit into it's time line. Also, what a shame - the lady named Hattie J. KIRKPATRICK (above) lived until 1969. I never knew her, and don't ever remember anyone telling me there was a Kirkpatrick in the very small village of Latah. Regards, Susan Vargas -- I'm convinced God put me here to accomplish a certain number of things; right now, I'm so far behind I'll never die!
