    3. All and sundry: Yesterday, I was researching my Kirkpatrick ancestors at the Wisconsin State Historical Society's Area Research Center at UW-Platteville, in the lead-mining region of WI where my GGG grandfather, J.H. Kirkpatrick, arrived in the late 1820s. I found a book entitled "A Kirkpatrick Genealogy: Being an Account of the Descendants of James Kirkpatrick of South Carolina, ca 1715-1786." This, to my delight, turned out to be my line, and may well be that of many of the subscribers to this list. (Considering how large the families were, there have to be a lot of James' descendants out there!) If there is interest, I will attempt to scan those pages that I copied (by no means all of the book) and post them to the list. I also intend to snail-mail the author, Melvin E. Kirkpatrick of Bloomington, Minn. (unless one of the cousins out there knows if he is on the Internet). For those of you who did not see my post when I joined the list a couple weeks back, or don't recall it, I descend from James Harrison Kirkpatrick, b. 1798 in GA, through his daughter, Mary L. (Kirkpatrick) Williams, wife of Lewis Williams, and their daughter, Mary Almeda, who married Lewis P. Fry. These families lived in southwest WI, Grant, Richland and Crawford counties. Scott
