    1. [KIRKPATRICK] Kirkpatricks of Turkey Creek, SC

    3. I am planning to visit the area in SC where my Kirkpatrick answers lived, fought, and died during the American Revolution. Several are interred in Bullock Creek Cemetery. I would like to be able locate where their land holdings were with currently identifiable landmarks, if possible. I'm wondering if there might be anyone on this list who might have such information available. Research by others states that James Kirkpatrick received a land grant along Turkey Creek: "On 24 September 1754 he is given land grants by the Governor of North Carolina to lands situate Turkey Creek in what is now South Carolina. The total of his land grants were 1,350 acres along Turkey Creek." and: "The tradition of the descendants of James Kirkpatrick, who settled on lands granted by the Governor of North Carolina to him, that lay along Turkey Creek, a branch of the Broad River and situate in now what is York and Chester Counties, South Carolina are that this is a Scottish family that moved to North Ireland, in a 'neck-saving' operation. " It is believed that the Kirkpatricks moved from Pennsylvania to SC in the early 1750s based upon the fact that the Gaston's and Gillham families, with whom they were very closely associated, both went there in 1750- 1751. I'd appreciate any information. And, since I don't have time in the next 6 weeks to be likely to obtain such information from government entities, I would be interested also in finding a paid researcher who might be able to assist. Thanks in advance. Ron Klein --------- ronklein@ix.netcom.com
