James Kirkpatrick married Elizabeh (Gillespie) in Balleylennon,Co. Donegal, Ireland in 1837. The next bit of information comes from a 1901 letter written by Elizabeth's sister-in-law, Mary Jane (Porter) Gillespie wherein she states that her husband, James Gillespie, was supposed to meet his sister, Mary Kirkpatrick, in Brooklyn, NY upon arrival from Ireland in 1841. Little other evidence of this Kirkpatrick family is available in spite of an extensive search. It seems that somewhere between 1837 and 1840 both James and Mary (Gillespie) Kirkpatrick emigrated from Ireland to the USA. I have reason to beleive that James Kirkpatrick became a naturalized US citizen in 1842. If anyone has more information on this Kirkpatrick family, I would like to hear from you. Kathy
