Hi, I'm searching for my KIRK ancestors. Father of the known family was Thomas Kirk, who died in Philadelphia in 1849. Prior to this the family was probably in NYC. Thomas' children were born: Ann KIRK, Feb 7, 1822 Thomas KIRK, Jan 19, 1825 D. April, 1854 in NY Jane KIRK, June 18, 1827 May KIRK, Dec 2, 1829 Sarah KIRK, Nov 30, 1831 twins John and William, b Dec 15, 1834. The mother, name unknown, died shortly after this birth. Any ideas, suggestions, or actual connections will be warmly welcomed!! Thanks, Valerie
I found a list of names written by my grgruncle George Kirkpatrick in 1886, St. Louis. I believe it was about a pedigree that had been produced by Bailey, Banks and Biddle of Philadelphia. Does anyone have a connection to these names? John Kirkpatrick 233 Vernon Ave. Brooklyn, NY Edward Kirkpatrick 33 E. 80 St. NY James A 654 North 35 West Philadelphia, PA Dr. J.B. Kirkpatrick Centre Indiana William R. Falls of Schuylkill, Phila Allen Kirkpatrick Pittsburg PA I have reason to believe they either ordered copies of the pedigree or were being asked to do so. I do endorse the message but we have just received our first 'spam' on the list, I do believe. It may become more common so I beg you all to ignore such messages, hit the delete button / key, do not respond directly to the sender or to this list. Hopefully we ignore it and it, and others, will go away. Hope everyone has a lovely, safe day. Bless you all! Joyce

Hello, I'm reseaching the line of John H. Kirkpatrick born May 1741, reportedly in Dumfriesshire, Scotland. It is believed he was in the colomies by about 1850. He married Jane/Jeane Wilkins in PA(?) ca 1760, They resided in Virginia, North Carolina, and Eastern Tennessee. Their children were as follows: DAVID S. KIRKPATRICK B 27 FEB 1760 IN Rockingham Co. Va MARRIAH " B 11 FEB 1762 " " " " HUGH " B 26 SEPT 1763 " " " " RACHEL " B 1 MARCH 17765 " " " " JOHN " B 16 OCT 1766 " " " " JACOB " B 1 NOV 1771 " " " " JAMES " B 23 AUG 1773 " " " " WILKINS " B 14 AUG 1775 " " " " HANNAH " B 6 MARCH 1779 IN BULLS GAP. TN John was a Revolutionary War soldier from a NC regiment. Some say John H. Kirkpatric was the son of WILLIAM KIRKPATRIC and MARGARET WAUGH of PA, but i have found doccuments and other information that seems to strongly dispute this claim. WE feel his was one of the younger sons of ALEXANDER KIRKPATRICK of WATTIES NEUK near Ruthwell in DUMFRIESSHIRE, SCOTLAND. I'm open to anything that will help me clarify his parentage. THANKS IN ADVANCE TO ANY AND ALL WHO TRY TO HELP ME, TOM CAULLEY
Descendents of Robert Kirkpatrick's(TN) son William, and other interested parties: help me with this conundrum-- I descend from gggrandfather Cyrus Kirkpatrick(2)(VA/KY), son of George Kirkpatrick(1)(VA/KY). I found a note in my grandmother's scrapbook talking about her father's (John Kirkpatrick KY) second cousins Nancy and Mandy Kirkpatrick. The note said, "Nancy Kirkpatrick married Perry Dills with children Robbins, Sue Mary, and Henry and they live in Falmouth, KY. Mandy Kirkpatrick married Pugh Miller and live on the Licking River, KY." I looked up all the Williams and found one whose father was Robert b. 1754, m. Mary Campbell, TN. They had children Nancy and Amanda and the FTM notes say the family lost track of them, along with another daughter Minerva, after they married Willis boys and went to KY. Well, here they are remarried, living outside of Cynthiana, Harrison County, KY! My dilemna is: To be ggrandfather John's second cousins they would have to be the children of a sibling of George. The only mention of a sibling in any of grandma's notes is a brother named William. I know nothing of where George came from other than I was told it was VA. He shows up in the Bourbon Co. KY 1790 Census and tax rolls and as a witness to a will of John Maize benefitting "Anny" Kirkpatrick. I also have a Wm Kirkpatrick married to Annie Maise in 1800 KY. I had assumed that this Wm. was George's brother. But now, I have to ask whose who, when and where? Help! It doesn't help that every line named their children the same. Arrrgh. I also found the receipts dated 1885-7 to a Bailey, Banks, and Biddle Jewelers and Stationary of Philadelphia for a pedigree chart w/ documentation which no longer exists, and a few sheets of stationary with the dagger and I Mak Sakur on it. It is not the exact design of the other but could represent another line. Who knows? I've pieced the family tree together sans original pedigree and will post it as soon as I can figure out how to do that. This large, mostly southern family line has been a missing link in our collective Kirkpatrick chain. Stay tuned. Judith B. Alef
Most of you have been aware of the work being done by the people at rootsweb to provide a way to have list messages archived and available to others. This decision is up to the 'listowner', but I feel you are all owners, and eventually we will need to decide whether to place our archived messages at the disposal of others. There has been some concern that individual email addresses would be available to all the sickos or spammers out there and would result in all of us being bombarded with unwanted messages. The sickos can subscribe and hit us every day in some way if they so desire, at least until blocked from the list. Spammers seem to use easily available mass addresses and probably would not go to the trouble of going into the archives and pulling addresses. Our list of subscribers are never available to anyone except the listowner. We have just been advised that a demo has been set up on eight lists that have been submitted for archiving. These have been indexed and a search engine is in place. Please drop by this site, see what you think and if you still don't want this list placed there, let me know. Otherwise I feel that we will only be hurting our own research efforts by staying out of this particular arena. The majority of you who responded to my original message indicated that we should go for it. Only a couple have had negative feelings and only one was pretty strongly against. I want to make us all happy but that may not be possible. If we do start having problems there are steps we can take to put them to an end. The url is: http://searches.rootsweb.com/example.html Thanks! Joyce
Is there a place where I can view MS Census records on-line? I have found a site for NC and TN, and another one for Ireland, but right now I don't need them, I need the MS one. I know I can go to the local genealogy library (30 minutes away) but with two small children who are very active and loud, it is hard on the other patrons, and I don't get that much done in the time I am there. It is just easier to look on-line. Thanks... -- Deena Green You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. - C. I am looking for anyone who might have this KIRKPATRICK family in their data base. Janet Kirkpatrick born 1837 in Dunfries, Scotland, parents unknown ( I am thinking they may be Joseph Kirkpatrick and Elizabeth Creighton from Dalton, but have no proof) Janet married Robert Burnett and was living in Quebec Canada when her first child, Robert Haywood was born maybe between 1860 and 1865. The next three children, Annie, Frank L., and Stewart were born before 1872, also in Canada. The last chid, Frederick Joseph Burnett was born 20 Aug 1872 in Cowansville, Quebec, Canada. Janet Kirkpatrick Burnett died 12 Mar 1904 - place unknown, I think it may be in the US If you know of this family, please contact me. Kathleen Burnett

Hello to all my list friends, just a note to let all of you know that I am still around and receiving my mail, just not able to respond to much yet. I have a pinched nerve in my back and sitting at the computer typing is sheer torture. Be back shortly I hope! Joyce
I am looking for anyone with information on Milder Kirkpatrick born November 10, 1915. and died October 1982. Her last known residence was Pullman, Michigan. This is very important to someone very dear to me. Let me start with a story. In 1952 a family in WI. was torn apart. There was a very nasty divorce and the 7 children were separated from each other. They were placed in separate foster homes. The 3 girls in one and the 4 boys in another. This was the last time these children saw their father. Then mother remarried a she came back to WI to claim her children. The children were back together, but they were moved to Chicago, IL. Their last names were changed. Mom made it very difficult for the father to find his children and very difficult for him to be in the state of WI. So he also had to change his name. Forty-two years later the oldest son found his father, but to our dismay he had been dead for 2 and half years. He never got to see his father. All they have now is pictures and stories. The story of their father and a lady named Mildred Kirkpatrick. It seems that their father assumed her name. To our knowledge they were never married. They tried to farm some land in WI. but found the old problem of the ex wife had the police on their tail. So they moved to Pullman MI. We have found the case worker that handled things for Mildred and was told she was taken back to Missouri by her sister. We thought she was still alive when she went to Missouri but we could have been mistaken. The reason we would like to find out about this lady is to just fill in some of the gaps in the history of a long lost father. The stories are all the children have. If anyone has any knowledge of Mildred Kirkpatrick please contact me. Donna

Saw this on Va-Roots has a Kirpatrick in it. I have been searching for several years for the parents of Robert HARRIS b.16 APR 1824 and apprenticed at the ago of two years in Cumberland Co. Kentucky (yes, I know this is VA Roots - I am thinking they migrated from Virginia to Kentucky) to Robert Elliott, whose wife was Mary (Polly) Kirkpatrick. In the apprenticeship papers Robert Harris is referred to as the "heir" (doesn't say son) of Polly HARRIS. I have collected much HARRIS material over the years and would be happy to share. Does this family sound familiar to anyone? This is a major stumbling block - does anyone have any suggestions besides the normal stuff for following up on this family? Any help much appreciated!
