Hello, I am new to this list and hopefully will find some of the answers I seek. My great great grandmother was Rachel M. Hodge Ginger. She married my gggrandfather Samuel F. Ginger on 17 Aug 1865 in Highland County VA. On the marriage license it lists her parents as Francis Kirkpatrick. Does anyone know anything of this line? All help appreciated and I am willing to share what info I have on Rachel and her family after marriage. Many thanks Sincerely, Barry & Rhonda Guilliams [email protected] Researching in VA: ADAMS, AILSTOCK, GINGER, GWIN, GUILLIAMS, WALTERS, PATE, KELLEY & in PA & Germany: GINGER To ponder the past is to live in the future!!!! Does anyone have any proof that Alfred Kirkpatrick born abt 1800 in Tennessee was David Kirkpatrick and Rebecca Stewart's son? Does David have a will on file? What I have: David Kirkpatrick born 1777, New Jersey, died 1822, Tennessee, married Rebecca Stewart, born 1762. Their children: 1) Alfred b. abt 1800 TN 2) Margaret b. abt 1802 3) John b. abt 1804 5) Joseph b. abt 1806 6) Jenney b. abt 1808 Is this correct? Cheryl Kirkpatrick [email protected]

Jacob (my direct line) Kirkpatrick was born 1771 in VA and died 1844 in Jefferson County, TN. The father was John H. Kirkpatrick who was believed to be born about 1742, came into East TN in 1778, participated in the Revolutionary War for NC and died in Jefferson (now Hamblen) County, TN in 1812. He is buried in the Bent Creek Cemetery near Bulls Gap, TN. The debate is who was the father of John H. Kirkpatrick and where was he born. Some researchers believe William and Margaret Kirkpatrick who came from Northern Ireland and settled in Lancaster County, PA where the parents. Although William names a son John in his will before he died in 1760, several years later when Margaret died there was only one son, William who appeared to claim the inheritance of land. Some researchers believe that William's son-John-had died. Yet John H. Kirkpatrick was very much alive. Other researchers believe that John H. Kirkpatrick was born in Scotland and came to America with his brothers. At this point, we don't know. Also there is debate about the 2 White sisters who married the 2 Kirkpatricks. Some researchers believe they are related to the White's who founded Knoxville, TN. Other researchers believe their parents are Joseph and Jennet White. Many family members, including myself, applied for and documented the family of John H. Kirkpatrick to be eligible for "First Families of TN". Those research materials are on file at the East TN Historical Society in Knoxville. Thanks for posting your findings. Janelle

But, I would like to see this original document returned to a member of the original family. My mother-in-law bought a picture frame at an estate sale in Tucson, AZ. When she took the picture out and removed the cardboard from behind it, a very delicate, old, and yellowed piece of paper fell out. This is a summary of what was written and readable on the paper: =========================================== Civil War Discharge Paper For: Mark CROSBY, Jr. Private, Company B, 16th Regiment Union Army >From Yarmouth, Massachussetts Entered service in 1860 and left service 1864 Marked Paid and signed by B. McCONNELL Description: 5 ft. 3 inches, gray eyes, dark curly hair. He was a clerk in the Union Army. Entered in the Auditors records on July 26, 1870 This document bears the Union Crest. ================================================= Help me post this for others to read. If you know someone who might be interested in this document, please E-Mail a reply to my inquiry. A life is not lost when it is known to future generations. Help me keep Mark CROSBY, Jr. alive for his family. Forward this message to anywhere you think might help. Happy Hunting! Nancy J. Smith [email protected]
Hi Everyone, My name is Carolyn and as some of you probably already know I am writing a genealogy book on my Kirkpatrick family. I have just finished the chapter on Silas Fain Kirkpatrick who was the son of Joseph Milton Kilpatrick, and the brother of my ancestor Bennett S. Kirkpatrick. I've included all the information that I have including the pictures and stories and letter's written by Silas's sons who were in the Civil War. If there is anybody out there who is a descendant of Silas who has information, stories, or photo's that they would like to have put in the book, please contact me and I will be glad to input them for you. My next chapter will be on Jonas Joseph Kirkpatrick, and if any of you have any information, stories, or photo's I'll be glad to do the same for you. I found something on the web that I got a kick out of, so I thought I'd pass it along: A modern mother is explaining to her little girl about pictures in the family photo album. "This is the geneticist with your surrogate mother and here's your sperm donor and your father's clone. This is me holding you when you were just a frozen embryo. The lady with the very troubled look on her face is your aunt, who is a genealogist." A big thank you goes to Shirley Reed who sent that to me, laughter is good for the soul. Sincerely, Carolyn [email protected]

"I Have just reviewed your Web page and am wondering if my great Grandmother, Sarah J. Kirkpatrick Young, is part of your family. "Her father, John Kirkpatrick and wife, Frances Tackett, m 7 Apr 1828, lived in Greensburg, IN and relocated to Jefferson Cty, IA in 1853. They had 5 children at that time, Hannah H., Sarah J. b 1832-d 23 Aug 1873, James A., John L., Henry H. b 6Apr1841-d 2Jan1904. The 6th child, Sophronia J., was born in IA 1858-d 6Sep1881. "Sarah J. Kirkpatrick married William Moore Young in Jefferson Cty, IA. on 4 Jan1855. They had 6 children of which only 3 survived: Alma Belle, George Washington and Harry Edison. My grandfather was George Washington Young. "I observed similarities in names and places with your family history. Can my Great Grandmother, Sarah J. Kirkpatrick be part of your family?"
