I continue being hopeful of finding my Calvin KING on the 1850 census. He was born 1823 in North Carolina. In 1855 he married Cora LIPSCOMB in Harrison County, TX. That is my earliest record of Calvin. The name of his firstborn son suggests Calvin's father may have been named John KING. Family story says he left home at age 14 "due to his step-mother", which raises questons- Who was the step-mother? Where was "home" when he left? Where did he go after that? Also, he was 32 when he married Cora, and I wonder about an earlier marriage and family somewhere else? Any help would be appreciated.
