    1. [KING] King family of Dillon County, SC

    3. Wow, Sandy, Thanks so much! I know that William Edward King's wife Margret J. (maiden name unknown) did die before him while some of their children were young, but I do not have a date. Are you related to the William E. King who married Catherine C. Carter? My William Edward ("Eddie") King was a farmer and carpenter who was born in March 1850 in North Carolina. Do you know when and where that marriage of William E. King and Catherine C. Carter took place? In the 1880 census William Edward King and Margret J. are shown living in Thompson's Township in Robeson County, NC. In the 1900 census they are in the Hillsborough Township of then Marion County/now Dillon County, SC. The children-at least the ones I know about-of William Edward King and Margret J. are: Dannie King (a daughter born about 1873), Mattie E. King (a daughter born about 1874), Loula L. King (a daughter born about 1877), Mary King (a daughter born about 1880), Laurence King (a son born in March 1883), Lonzo ("Lonnie") King (a son born March 4, 1885), Nettie Donnie King (a daughter born May 29, 1892), Ernest B. King (a son born in February 1894), and at least two other children including maybe a daughter named Pauline King. Nettie Donnie King Neely Riley was my paternal grandmother. She married Joseph Bowden Neely, Sr. of Bayboro, Horry County, SC, and they moved to Savannah, GA. Her brother Lonzo ("Lonnie") King first married Lizzie Huggins of Dillon County, SC, and their children included Rembert Lonzo King and Pauline King. He next married Mary Margaret Chappell of Hoke County, NC, and they had one daughter, Helen Chappell King Greene. I would appreciate any other information on the Kings of Dillon County, SC. I have seen your postings in reference to your King family. I have a King line also. I have tried to connect mine to yours, without much success. I did see on another posting however a marriage application for William E. King to be married to Catherine C. Carter. Possibly a second marriage for your William (?). My line is : Stephen King (abt 1810) in NC wife was Mary " Polly" son Alexander 1845-1916 m Orpha Scott (my line) other sons John I., Mckibben, Caroline, Mary Jane and Stephen There are numerous King families in the Dillon/ Marion county area, even now.
