Rita, I'm sure there were lots of Robert King's, but I do know there was a Robert King in Moore Co., North Carolina in the 1820 and I think 1830 census records. From your dates this Robert might be too old to be your Robert. I really don't know if Moore Co. is close to Buncombe or Cherokee. Just a little tidbit that might help, I hope. Hello Judy, Thanks so much for your kind suggestion! Moore Co. is in central NC and Buncombe is in the western corner bordering TN and GA. I have very few records of Robert Kings in western NC who were the right age to be my ggrandfather. I am wondering if he may have come from another area of the state.
