    3. Yes! I am looking for Canadian Kings. My family is from Ontario, London area, I believe. Family Christian names are Charles and Hugh. My grandfather, Charles, ended up in Detroit, but most of his family stayed in Canada. Sorry I can't offer you any additional information. 1. [KING] King-L Roll Call
    2. Robert W. King
    3. Hi Kelley and Sharon! It's a very long shot, but here goes. My great-great-great-grandfather was Hyrum (Hiram) King, born 12 Jan 1815. He had siblings Soloman King, born in 1802, Wesley Henry King, born Mar 1804, and Rachel King, presumably born before 1815. Most of the information I've found suggests that they hailed from the vicinity of Watertown, Jefferson County, New York. But at least some of the old folks interviewed by Don Vincent in "800 Missouri Families" thought they came from Canada. Noting the proximity of Watertown to eastern Ontario, the St. Lawrence River and Lake Ontario, it doesn't seem unreasonable to me for this King family to have lived on the north side of the St. Lawrence or the lake before crossing into New York. Hiram settled in south central Missouri in what later became Texas County sometime before 1840. He married twice and had children with both wives. He seems to have been a reasonably successful farmer, blacksmith and Justice of the Peace. In 1860, he was elected County Judge. His brother Soloman and sister Rachel both settled in Missouri also, married and raised families. Wesley King traveled in company with William Reed and his family of Louisville, Kentucky to Batesville, Arkansas. On Xmas day of 1827, Wesley married William's daughter, Sarah 'Sally' Reed. Within a few months, Wesley, his new wife and his in-laws had taken up land in what was then Lovely County, Arkansas Territory near Clyde on Fly Creek. Within the year, Lovely County was dissolved and Washington County formed from its southern extent. Sally gave Wesley five children and died. Wesley then married the 'not quite fifteen year old' Eveline Holt who was then a student at the nearby Cane Hill Female Seminary. She gave Wesley another thirteen children. During the WBTS, the sons of three brothers fought on both sides of the conflict. Hiram lost his house and smithy when a Union cavalry patrol was attacked by Confederate irregulars and took shelter in his house. In the subsequent siege, the house was set on fire which forced the patrol and the family into the open. The patrol surrendered, was paroled and allowed to go on their way. The King family was homeless. A bit later, Wesley King gathered up his children and daughters-in-law and went to Aurora, Missouri where he joined Hiram and his family. There was more to eat in Missouri. Wesley's son, Hiram King, served as a mail courier for the 1st Arkansas Cavalry, USA between Fayetteville, Arkansas and Cassville, Missouri. Hiram's son, Silas William King, apparently served in an irregular unit. Soloman's son, Hiram Wesley King, served in the 1st Missouri Cavalry, CSA. It is known that Wesley and Hiram King both were regarded as 'herb doctors' by their neighbors and consulted regularly in that capacity. Eveline Holt King was well regarded as a midwife and often employed thus. If anybody has any information on the parents of these four - Soloman, Wesley, Rachel and Hyrum - I would very much appreciate hearing about it. The usual offer to exchange information is tendered. -- Robert W. King I'm an ingenieur, NOT a bloody locomotive driver!
