Hi Bo & Kathy.......................Edna, KS is very close (10 mi?)to where my KING fam. lived in KS. Were your Charles and Samuel KING also from IND? Do you know their birthdates and birthplaces? We have a Charles H. KING ,b. 1880 KS (s. of Robt Clinton, grndson of George), marr Bertha VESSMAN. Is this your Charles? And, of course, Samuel is the middle name of George's 1st son, Joseph. I am trying to assertain the names of George's parents, and his bro's/sis's., which is why I've been looking at all the Deed Rec's in Jennings Co., IND. I have found Deeds btwn James S. KING and Samuel BOYD in Jennings Co. in 1844, which makes me suspect that my KING's are related to the KING/STONEKING fam. One of this fam's researchers (either Billie, Vivian or Dixie Osborn, who I can no longer locate), told us that her mother remembers seeing my grandfa., Amos KING playing (fiddle) at a dance, and that they were 2nd cousins! My main problem still: There are 3 George KING's in Jennings Co., all of whom marr. in 1840. So we have a sorting problem here. This is why we do this crazy geneal. stuff, right?! I have already looked at County histories of Jennings and surrounding counties, censuses, court records, etc., (and researched in Salt Lake City twice). Have looked at a number of KING, BOYD, LEWELLEN, and DAVIS wills, also. ....................The problem still........ is it MY George, or the George that marr. into the well-known VAWTER fam (d. 1858), or the George who marr. into the POOLE fam, then divorced her 2 yrs later for unfaithfulness. Isn't this fun?! I have been in touch w/another researcher for a long time, who has KING relatives we suspect are related to my family. Her KING fam., lived around the Nowata Co., OK. area. Directly across the border from Coffeyville, and your Edna, KS, too. She is the www.USGENWEB.com site coordinator, Vivian Brinker, [email protected] . Her George W. KING b. 1854, is bur. in Wann, Nowata Co., KS. Also researcher, Billie King, [email protected], same family. Their connection is thru the KING/STONEKING fam. Fam. legend that James S. KING, b. 1831 Ripley Co., IND dropped the "stone" from his name when they crossed the Missouri River. James fa, Samuel STONEKING, was marr. to Susanna BOYD. When I looked at census data for 1830, I found KING and STONEKING fam's living next to ea. other. My family (bro.) has sent sample DNA to particpate in the DNA Y-chromosome study thru Ancestry.com. There are also studies thru www.FamilyTreeDNA.com. We would very much like to compare our DNA to other KING fam's. like Vivian and Billie's fam's. who have similar backgrounds. For the Y-Chromosome study must be a KING Male, direct descendent. Cost is abt $200. Anyone interested? .........................Carol (KING) Cicotte ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bo & Kathy Beauchamp" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, February 06, 2003 9:16 PM Subject: Re: [KING] Fw: KING Roll Call > Do You know who George's parents or Brother and sisters were ? My problem is I have a King that Married a King. My Fathers mother Eva King married Otto King. Eva born in Coffeyville Ks, 1895 was the daughter of Samuel King who was the son of Charles King. Charles and Samuel ( 1845)were born in Maryland. Moved to Val, Indiana, Ill, Ohio and Kansas. Otto was the son of John born in In 1856, son of David born 1825 Kentucky, who had a brother named George born about 1842 in Indiana Who's father was Henry abt 1802 poss. Kentucky. These are my brick walls . Appears there are a lot of brick walls in the Kings. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carol Cicotte" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, February 07, 2003 10:29 PM Subject: Re: [KING] Fw: KING Roll Call > Hi Bo & Kathy.......................Edna, KS is very close (10 mi?)to where > my KING fam. lived in KS. For all Kings looking in Jennings County, you might try Ripley County too. My King line lived in Ripley and two of them married brothers, who lived in Jennings County. These two couples crossed the plains to Oregon in 1849 and 1851. The grandfather of the two sisters settled in Decatur County. If anyone is interested I have information on most of the family.
