Emery King Funeral services for Emery King, 82, of Ferriday were held at Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday on Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Cullum officiating and James King assisting. Interment followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Young's . Mr. King died Monday, May 23, 2005, at Camelot Leisure Living Ferriday. He was a resident of Ferriday and a member of the Hill Memorial Baptist Church. He retired from the Concordia Parish Sheriff's Department after 12 years. He served as Master Sergeant during World War II in the Pacific Theater and the occupation of Japan. Mr. King was an avid outdoorsman. He was preceded in death by wife, Pearline Smith King; father, Claud Asberry King; mother, Mary Virginia Simmons King; brothers, Garry King and Virgil King; and sisters, Hilda Parker and Eloise Cooper. Survivors include sons, Jerry King of Vidalia, Mickey King of Ferriday, Bruce King of Clayton and Timothy King of Monterey; sisters, Novel Arnold of Newellton and Myrtle Alson of Idaho; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were members of the Concordia Parish Sheriff's Department. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Natchez Children's Home.
