CLARKSVILLE — Jobelle King Laster, 86, of Clarksville died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at her home. Born Oct. 17, 1918, at Harmony, she was the daughter of the late Gus and Bonnie Baskin King, and widow of Fred Laster. She was a graduate of Clarksville High School, attended College of the Ozarks, served as librarian at Johnson County Library for 18 years, and was former manager of Hurie School cafeteria and the snack bar at College of the Ozarks. She was the 1936 state Spelling Bee winner. Mrs. Laster was a member of AARP, NARFE, the hospital auxiliary, the Historical Society and First Presbyterian Church. She did volunteer work with Needy Paws and Meals on Wheels. She loved cats, flowers, baking cookies and her daughters. Survivors include daughters, Bonnie Jo Laster of Jacksonville, Fla., and Sue Laster of Clarksville; two special nephews, Ronald Laster and James Robert Laster of Clarksville; several other nieces and nephews; and a special friend for 60 years, Roberta Albat of Coal Hill. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Harmony Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery by Hardwicke Funeral Service. Visitation will be 6-7 tonight at the funeral home.
